Hope everyone is having a great weekend and watching this amazing Ryder Cup.

Want to thank KBS and GolfWRX for choosing me as a tester.  The shafts arrived today and in an awesome package. Below are some pics of the shafts and the irons I'll be installing them in.  Recently bought a set of killer Bridgestone J15CB heads from fellow member @sadclevelandsports and I think this setup is going to be amazing.  Will be taking the set to Edwin Watts here in Orlando on Monday to have the great Eddie put it all together (I'm sure some of you know him). Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Thank you to @KBS Golf Shafts and Golf WRX for this opportunity.  I regard it an honor to test these shafts and hope to give the WRX community my full insight on the product.

A little about me...I'm 49 year old male with about a 5 index.  I have been playing Mizuno MP 64 irons, 3 through PW, with S400 shafts for nearly 10 years (the 3 iron makes an infrequent appearance as I prefer 3 hybrid).  It's a great opportunity for me to try graphite shafts as I get older.  I will be testing the 100g weight shaft.  Ideally, it would be best to install the shafts on a second set of MP 64 irons to compare with my gamers.  But, I think comparing the irons with these new shafts with my experience will suffice.  I don't tinker much with my clubs.  The only clubs that have changed in my bag the past 10 years are driver, 3 wood and putter.

I received the shafts individually wrapped in a sturdy package.  As you can see from the photos, it's a very sharp looking shaft.  The shafts are 0.370 parallel and the MP 64s take a shaft with 0.355 taper tip.  According to the KBS website, the 0.355 taper tips are to be released later.  Researching GolfWRX posts, it sounds like people either sand the tips down to fit the irons or ream the hosel to accommodate the 0.370 parallel tip.  We will be sanding the tips down.  We will be following tipping instructions found on the KBS website.  Swing weights on the MP 64 irons with DG S400 shafts are: near or at D3 for 7 to PW and D4 for 6 to 3.  I'm not sure why there is a difference as I purchased this iron set used at a local shop.  My buddy will be installing the shafts for me but it may take a week or two since we both have day jobs!  Please ask me any questions.  Thanks again.

Received mine today as well. Pkg is certainly quality as you can see; mine are identical to Weezel. One interesting item is each shaft has 2 logos, so haven't decided yet to go up & down or side-to-side (See discussion about logo up or down elsewhere). Planning to install in 4,6 & 8 initially to compare to existing shafts.

BTW Weezel, I believe those Bridgestones take .355 taper tips & I think the KBS's are .370.

Good luck to all, Fairways & Greens Boys!

Same! I like the double logo look actually. Think I am going to have him install them up/down.  They are taper tip but I think my guy can make it work.  He's the best in Orlando.

LOL, I'm leaning toward logos sideways but will set it together to look at it before I glue. Btw, I sent an email to KBS to see if there's an orientation they reccomend.  If I get a reply, I'll let you know.

Dropped the set off to be built today.  Little about me, I am a 10.6 handicap. Mostly play here in the Orlando area.  I have been playing New Level MODB-1 irons with True Temper Elevate Tour s300 shafts for the past 1.5 years.

I'm excited to get the KBS PGI shafts installed in the Bridgestone J15CB heads. I used to have the same set built with KBS Tour stiff shafts and sold them like a dummy a while ago.

Weasel & Kid did a great job of showing the pkg, mine is identical so won't waste time on it. Going to shaft the 6 & 8 tomorrow in a set of OG Callaway Apex. They currently have Recoil 660 F3, hardstepped 1X, +0.5" so will be a good comparison.  BTW, got a message from Jarret Thomas at KBS who said you can mount them anyway you like, there's no significance to logo placement.  Of course I could also have them pured but I'm going to hold off. I'll attach pics as soon as they're done

Hi All,

Just got the clubs back from Eddie at Edwin Watts and they look great.  Again, I got the PGI 90 gram version and we tip trimmed them an extra 0.5 inch on guidance from KBS.  Five-iron is playing 38.5 inches which is about standard for graphite.  Swingweight is D3.  The grips I had installed are not great, (apparently there is a grip shortage and I could not find Lamkin Crossline 360 or Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 locally, which are my preffered on irons) so I got a cheap set on Amazon to test everything out.  Will probably hit the range tomorrow or a friends simulator before playing Orange County National on Sunday.  Below are some pics for reference and I will follow up after playing some with them.

First thoughts from the range today.  Weather was nice but there was a strong breeze back into the face on the range.  Always hard to tell just off feel and sight alone but the shafts were excellent.  Produced a very high but boring shot trajectory with just the tightest draw on it.  The feel was great as they felt plenty sturdy and not that I was giving anything back with the loss of weight compared to my previous shafts.  I really liked the impact through the ball, it felt powerful and with a kick that held up to my hardest swings.  Smoother swings were great and I could feel the shaft loading and the clubhead perfectly.  So far so good but will report back after my round at Orange County National on Sunday.

Follow up to play yesterday.  Was a nice day though pretty windy at Orange County National.  Got a flat tire on the way so didnt have time to hit up the great range there before the round.  The new shafts held up nice and I love the high ball flight I get with them.  Even though the flight is high, I dont feel like the ball is getting lost in the air.  There is still plenty of spin and a boring trajectory.  I'd say I am getting a couple extra yards from the new shafts as well.  My good friend I play with is 2 handicap and an extremely stong player hit them and complimented the feel and action of the shafts through the ball. He plays TT Dyncamic Gold x100s so they can stand up to that type of player too.  All in all they have been a great transition and a welcome addition to my bag.

My understanding is that each weight only comes in one flex; mine are 80g which I believe is the reg. I think Weezel's are heavier, so correspondingly stiffer. As the shafts get lighter, the flex gets softer. If I'm wrong about that, someone pls correct.

I put the 6 & 8 together so I can test head to head vs. my Recoils. I hit both  clubs on a muddy range with beat up range balls over the weekend & came away impressed. I was expecting them to have a much lower trajectory but they did not. Shots flew as high as Recoils but turned over and went, a high but more boring trajectory that I really liked. In terms of feel, I'd compare the PGi's to mid way between the damp feeling of Recoils & the more steel-like feel of Steelfibers, again a feel I was very happy with. Distance-wise the KBS's seemed 1/2 to a club longer but tough to tell in the mud.

Headed to the course tomorrow so will come back with pics & results from real balls.

Yes, after speaking with Jarret at KBS he told me that the 90 gram version I have is reg+ so I took his advice and we tip trimmed an extra half inch to stiffen them up closer to a traditional stiff flex.

rwl, it seems you are seeing the same characteristics as me.  Great feel that doesn't seem whippy with lots of energy through the ball. Im about a half club in distance more and flying high but still boring. These shafts are great so far.

OK y'all got the clubs out on the course today & in a word, "WOW!"

Picked up close to a club in distance with a high but strong flight that was never a problem, even on a windy coastal track. A friend who's played the Sr. tour described it as a "pro" trajectory.  Baby draws were the order of the day with significantly better dispersion than my Recoils. Shafts are so good I'll be installing the rest ASAP and may end up putting the 921 Forged I have on order on the BST. If shafts were .355 I'd install them in the Mizzys in a minute. Here's a photo of my 6 & 8, with the rest to follow soon.

Great job KBS!

Sorry, can't help you there. I have 2 sets of Recoils & a set of Steelfiber I95's but I've never hit the MMT's . That said, it's hard for me to imagine they're better than the PGI'S, at least for me.

Btw, has anyone else noticed that grip tape doesn't stick particularly well to these shafts? Not an insurmountable problem but my only real criticism.  Well that & the graphics are a little busy for my taste, but that's 100% "eye-of-the-beholder."

Same here but heard great things about the MMTs.  My previous two sets were TT Elevate Tour S300 and KBS C-Taper Lite stiff. I've always preferred a bit of action in my shafts and both of those were great, but I would take the PGI over both of those.  As far as the graphics being busy I would disagree.  There is some getting used to, but the matte black blends really nice into the clubhead.

Agreed.  It is a personal taste thing.  Excited to hear what you have to say and if your findings are the same as mine.  I should've added another shaft to put in my 3i that isnt part of my set and is standalone.  That one has KBS C-Taper Lite s in it and its just a tad heavier than the rest of the set, but may be purchasing that one to install.

Still working on getting these shafts into the MP 64 heads.  Life gets in the way sometimes, you know?  Should be able to complete it this week.  Here are a couple of pics.  Please ignore the lefty fairway wood in the second photo.  😆

Shaft replacement is done!  Tips hand sanded to fit the 0.355 hosel.  Trimming done according to KBS recommendations. Swing weight was a bit heavier than with the S400s - closer to D4-5.  If it’s too heavy, we can trim the shaft at the grip end. Grips were air-compressed on so should be pretty easy to do. Shout out to my buddy who did all the work in his garage - thank you!!!

First look? The black/red color scheme with the red grips looks sharp. Grips are Pure Pro in red - matches perfectly with the red color in the shaft. Wanted logos down, but since there are 2 logos on each shaft, we decided to place the logos on the sides as best as possible. Looks-wise, it has put new life into these irons.

Will be testing at the range and on course in the next few days. Super excited to hit them.

This is the 7 iron at address. Logos are positioned at both sides with a pretty clean look at address.

Follow up from my round yesterday.  Shafts are incredible.  They produce such a nice high and boring trajectory, very pro like.  Love the feel too and I am gaining about a half club in distance from my previous TT Elevate Tour s400.  I have nothing bad to report back on and they are staying a keeper in the bag.

Finally finished the full set & got them on the course. In a nutshell, my experience matches Weezel verbatim, trajectory is high, but boring; shots turn over & fly don't just land in their own pitch mark. Not surprizingly these are longer than the Recoils but not a full club, closer to the 1/2 club Weezel reported. Like Kid, I also put the logos sideways so mine look similar, but with black MCC's. I'm no photographer but here's a pic:

Big test will be this week as I just received a set of JPX 921 Forged with 95g Recoils that I'd ordered before I was picked as a tester. It will certainly say something if these shafts with 7 year old heads knock those out as my gamers and onto the BST. Stay tuned!

    • APPLY NOW: L.A.B. Golf MEZZ.1 Putter (Early Access) Member Testing! 10 Testers Needed!
L.A.B. Golf is choosing ten GolfWRX members to receive their MEZZ.1 putter early and put their brand new product to the test before reporting back to the community about what they see. The selected testers will be one of the first to experience the MEZZ.1 from L.A.B. GOLF, their newest Lie Angle Balanced design, ahead of it's January 2022 launch!

About The L.A.B. Golf Mezz.1 Putter
MEZZ.1 is our new mid-mallet putter that’s fully CNC machined from a billet of 6061 aircraft aluminum (body) and 303 stainless steel (midsection) to create our best-feeling — and we think best looking — putter to date. It includes 10 weights (eight on the bottom, two on the sides) that allow us to individually build each putter to a golfer’s exact specifications.

      How To Apply
In a post below, answer the following questions.

      1. City, State?
      2. Handicap?
      3. What is your current putter?
      4. Have you ever used a L.A.B. Golf putter?
      5. Why do you want to review the MEAZZ.1 putter?
      6. Do you agree to participate in an ongoing testing thread, posting reviews and photos?

That's it! @labgolf and GolfWRX will choose the testers in about 2 weeks! This testing event is for good-standing members in the USA only!
