WITB-Carolina Golfer 2-2021 Edition

Recommended Posts

Driver: Titleist TSi1 9.0 Aldila Ascent 40g R -Had a shootout of 6 2021 drivers, and this model stood above all for me

FW: Titleist TSi2 16.5 GD IZ6 60g-This one could be replaced by a U505 18 degree-but for now it's in the lineup

Hybrid Titleist TSi1 20 & 23 Aldila 80G -Hands down the best Hybrids I have hit, the 20* is a rocket launcher to use a cliché!

Iron 2021 Titleist T300 5-P MCA Red 65g R- Simply the best irons I have ever hit...plain truth!

Wedge: Vokey SM8 50.10F 54.12D 58.12D-They are Vokeys, due I need to give any other explanation!

Putter: Scotty Cameron Special Select Newport 2 35”-This has been the biggest change for me, I have been a solid mallet guy for at least 5 years, but so far this is rolling them great!

Ball-ProV1X Play Number 12-Switched to the X from the V about 2 years ago and have been very happy with it.

Nice stuff ----- My Bud Bear who is a bigger Ho than any of us on here is playing the exact same irons and he loves them or this week anyhow--- And yep all those Titleist Hybrid heads are hot hot hot-- Ball comes off them screaming too fast for me I can not control them. Last night I was in a delimma--- I needed something in the 24* range on the top end. I looked at several Hybrids I had naah hook this one too much or baloon that one. The 9 wood I am balooning-- Finally I said Screw it and put the old Mac blade 4 iron in

My decision above paid off good yesterday--- I hit the 4 iron really well--- In fact our partner in the 9 and Dine who is a really good player himself remarked that I did not need a 4 hybrid.

Nice set - I’m biased though TSI2 driver, TSI1 5 wood, U505 4 iron, T300 5-GW, and 52 & 56 Vokeys.

Great Stuff!  That U505 4 iron is awesome isn't it!  I knda wished I had gone with it vs the 3 as the 3 isn't quite giving me the height that I had hoped for.

Well basically I really do too but I can not control it and it gets me into trouble more often than not. LOL on the post above it has been a month ago. I ended up last week in the wind etc hurting my back again. Basically not structually hurt but sore and stiff from hitting at the 4&5 irons too hard. Had to cancel playing the 9& Dine with my wife that afternoon. Sat out hitting balls until Wednesday. Made wholesale changes and put the graphite shafted TMs back in the bag and practiced them this week. Did some work on the 9 wood too with weight redistribution and practiced it like I wanted. Did pretty well back wise yesterday. Practiced short game 2 hrs then hit about 40 balls on the range then played a practice 9. Had no pain or stiffness and feel good early this morning. Got what I call my old crippled man's set up in for today--- Graphite shafted TM TP CBs with a ( gasp) Cally PM grind 56* which I have been messing with on and off a while. The gaps on the wedges are a little off from a 47* PW to the 56* so I threw in a old 252 series 52* Vokey I have had for 15 years. The gap thing was not really because of the clubs but because of me. I used to be able to cover the distance gap pretty well but now I can not swing as hard so I needed help there equipment wise too. Of course the 7 and 9 woods are in too. Yep reluctlenty concluded that if I wanted to keep on playing I had to make equipment changes. Honestly I was at the point Sunday afternoon that I was going to sell all my stuff and take up fishing or buy me another race car or Hot Rod and rent a place to store and work on it

The graphite shaft thing worked out well for me. I learned to time them up. I can not work the ball yet like I can with the blades though. And I have to get used to the spin too those things do spin a ball. Main thing is I played the shootout yesterday and did not over swing and was pain free and not stiff. A 180* turn from a week ago> I have no pain and stiffness this morning--- Now those irons are not jacked they are a players CB and the lofts are more like mid 80s and only 2* stronger than my blades. They are smooth and I may not be getting the torsional vibration I do with the blades. But going modern somewhat goes against my grain but I am sucking up and going to adapt to the old mans game to stay in it
