Who bought a PXG Gen 4 driver during the sale and what do you think of it?

Couldn't resist the price so I purchased a Gen 4 driver for $ 299 during the sale.  When comparing to my Callaway Epic Max, it seemed a little more difficult to achieve the same distance.

As of today, it's still not in the bag, but taking it to the driving range tomorrow to do some comparison shots and give it another change.

What's your results?

I purchased one and it has been pretty solid.  Last round I played I noticed I was a good bit shorter than a couple guys I am normally closer too.  So just for science I pulled the old M3 out of the garage bag and I was surprised to see an additional 10 yards on average on my SkyTrak with several 15 yards longer.  Club speed was maybe a touch faster, but better launch and spin numbers.  I had benched the M3 last year just because twist face and I sometimes don’t get along (I have no doubt it is me).   I have gone through a few other drivers and just flat out struggled at the beginning of the season.  Consistency has been really good with the Gen 4 so it does have that going for it so that is why it stayed in the bag, but I did not realize I was giving up that much distance.

Not as far as my Sim Max when I hit both perfect. However, dispersion is much better with the GEN 4.

Bought one as well to test as I generally don’t get along with drivers. I’ve been using a 13.5° 3 wood off the tee but would love to get a little more distance and forgiveness.

I’m still on the fence on the Gen 4 XF but honestly haven’t tested it much on the course. I took it out once and I put some good swings on it but it didn’t seem to get anymore distance than my 3+ wood.

I’ve hit it a few times on the range but the range I frequent faces south (bright Florida sun) with elevated green targets. Anything over 200 yards is nearly impossible to gauge. It seems to be in the same range of my 3+ wood but I can’t verify for certain.

I need to give it more time in the bag though.

Pros:

—forgiving

—accurate

—value

—looks good

Cons:

—maybe not as long as I would like but I need to verify

—sound (it seems really loud; I felt the need to apologize to others on the range)

I have 14 clubs.

Same for me.  Bought the 0811X, but my Max LS beat it out, so I returned it yesterday.  Max LS was 5 yards longer on good hits and more forgiving on bad hits.  That said, the 0811X is still a very nice driver and probably would work best for a lot of people.

I bought a Gen4 9* with a Ventus Blue.  I am not sure how much to attribute to the shaft, which I love, but I hit mine better than any driver I have had.  It isn't any longer, or shorter, but I control it much better.

Had the Gen4 10.5* for a month replaced a Titleist 915. I have it on the little + setting with 15 gram in the front. I like the. Set up and looks, sound is a bit muted, distance is 10 yards longer. The real Beauty of this club is the length and fairway finding on hits around the center. The low left heel shot, high toe, and low center all put me in a decent place. I find it easy to draw and mine is 45”. It is a keeper for me and I am still getting better as I get to know it better.

Ordered a gen 4 x with a 3 and 7 wood. Like them so much I want the full bag deal but PXG won’t do it/credit my purchase. So frustrating, I’m ready to give them my money.
