Matte white balls?

lefthack

Recommended Posts

I've been playing the matte orange for a few rounds now and love the look. I got a coupon for a matte white version of this ball and I don't think I've seen a matte white ball. I got the last three boxes they had, so they will go into rotation. These are Inesis 500 Soft, so nothing fancy. But I'm happy with the performance.

Anybody play a matte white ball?

Maxfli Tour are matte white. I found them to scuff easily. I prefer the glossy white of other brands myself.

I have not tried a Maxfli Tour. I had a Maxfli Duo orange matte that seemed nice, but I lost that one before too long.

All my other white balls are gloss (E6, TP5, Q Star Tour), so I will see how these stack up.

Wow, I kinda dig these. The picture doesn't do it justice. It looks like a dimpled ping pong ball. 🤣

I tried  white matte golf balls a couple of years ago and they accumulated so much dirt and dust that I had trouble finding them in light rough.  I much prefer the glossy white finish.

I play both matte and gloss orange and haven't noticed a huge difference. That's why these were interesting, and they were cheap. 🤣

I can't remember if I've played matte white balls. I do know that matte balls tend to show dirt more, so a matte white ball would probably get dirtier quicker than a glossy ball. I think that's why most matte balls tend to be colored

The matte certainly picks up the freshly mowed grass well. Not sure that it shows as dirtier, let me get a few 9's in and I'll update.

I tried the Vice Soft balls a while back, not sure if they're still matte. Very nice out of the box, picked up grass stains very easy, wasn't a fan of that honestly.

I normally play Wilson Duo Soft in the cold weather months.  Got a dozen matte white ones last year.  I forget exactly what they were called, women's or ladies or something.  Matte white with a light blue number/logo on them.  I had to quit playing them because they were so hard to find after a few holes.  They basically turned to a dull green and tan camouflage!  I could wipe them fairly clean a few times, but they would keep getting more stained after every shot.  Of course fall and spring golf in my area usually involves wet/muddy conditions.  They did look super cool when new though.

I've played 3 rounds of 9 and really don't see any real staining or blemishes.

I had good luck with volvik matte balls but I usually play the coloured ones cause why not, I don't see any reason to play a matte white ball lol.

the vimat is a 2 piece ball, and vivid 3 piece. both comes in coloured or white.

I didn't seek out the matte white, but the matte is the previous model they are blowing out. I had bought out the orange when they were on sale for $10/dozen (usually $25). The white went on sale sand since I liked the orange, I figured why not.

The issue now is I'm not losing balls as quickly as I was and still buying them like I am. I think I have enough balls for a few seasons at least.

Then you don't need to buy new balls IMO, just look for them when you shop. Or try all the balls mentioned in this post for that matter, too many good option.

Right now I have close to 300. When I was playing practice rounds at the club I was playing 4 balls at a time. I would end up losing 5 or more a round some days, so I started stocking up.

But since I've been playing single rounds at different courses, I'm hardly losing any. So with what I have, I should be good.

They don't make the matte Inesis Soft 500 anymore, but I have 3 dozen white and 5 dozen orange. 🤣

You probably will find better balls than the inesis ones soon, I really liked one particular glove last year and thought I can just buy that forever, after going through 4 gloves I found a new favorite.😉

I still have a ton of Srixon Q Star Tours, Tour Divide (all 3 colors), Bridgestone E6, Taylormade TP5, and also happened to score some Spalding SD Tours for $10/dozen.

I seriously can't tell the difference, but I like the orange because they are easiest to find.

Little difference for sure, robot test of balls shows like 3% of carry distance and 10% spin difference for upper and lower limit. I have play in almost every colour except green, they are so easy to track.

I lose the red almost immediately. It looked great on the tee. 🤣

I started with the Nitro orange, then Spalding Pure Spin in orange. But I think I prefer the matte orange of the Inesis.

Found same thing with Callaway Superhot matte red. It scuffs a bit, but mainly absorbs black clay and fertilizer stains.

So 3 rounds of 9 and I haven't lost it (progress). No cart paths, no sand, but lots of iron and wedge shots. No real discoloration or even any real damage. I really like these.

i'm also on this boat. i've tried so many balls, i can only really feel the difference, but not necesarilly see it in performance. Titleist Tour Soft might have been my favourite, however, they are discontinued and i can't source any where i live.

I love a matte ball. E6 Matte yellow is probably my favourite. I started on Supersoft 2019 in bright green and red and tried the Vice Soft in a weird salmon red, but it gets quickly blemished underneath to a white / cream colour (poor quality in that moment). I was also on a mission for a similar matte white and didn't have much sucess in locating them in person. (Shipping costs are equal to a dozen).

Might take a risk on a dozen of these: Foremost Matty. I think they're maybe 20-25 USD equaivalent.

image.png.887aebb3f4fed2684d6ce461e8becd5f.png

Otherwise, the Wilson Staff Raw is appealing, although it's not officially matte since it's unpainted.

Volvik Vivid Lite also have a light blue colour, which wasn't bad. it's also described as matte, however, it feels more unfinished to me. Difficulty to see them sometimes though. It's a complete rock off the driver though, so no go for me.

I would agree matte balls pick up dirt more, only because they tend to scuff easier, which is where the dirt accumulates.

I am currently playing the Maxfli tour Matte White

Great ball but the Matte white gets dirty very easily

I hit a couple of trees and the ball holds up well, doesn't seem to scuff too much

The white does get dirty very quickly

I like the ball but I like the Snell black better

Wilson Staff R is a matte white high performance golf ball. Actually unpainted and therefore precisely round. It's an amazing ball performance wise.

Aesthetically, it begins to take on the hues of the grasses its encountering.

Matte Orange is my favorite color of golf ball to play as it is the easiest for me to see in flight and find in the rough.  I wish Wilson Staff made their tour balls in matte orange and I would buy 100 dozen!  I'm sure matte white is fine from a playability standpoint they just may pick up grass stains more easily.
