Going to Ping for PLD fitting

Finally pulling the trigger heading out next week for Ping PLD fitting. Been wanting to do this for a while gifting myself an early Christmas gift. Wanted to throw this post up for everyone who may have questions or just curious about the process. I’m a lefty so that might spark some interest as well. Feel free to throw your questions out or what you might like to find out and I’ll ask while I’m being fit. Pretty excited for this!!

I didn’t even know this was a thing.  What options/models are open to you when you do this?  I’m definitely curious how this works and what putters you can get, as I thought ping was very stingy with the pld offerings getting outside of staff players hands.

• Anser, Anser 2
• Prime Tyne – Double bend (Straight or Slight arc), Anser 4 hosel, Anser hosel
• Kushin - Double bend (Straight or Slight arc), Anser 4 hosel, Anser hosel
• DS 72 (Victor Hovland’s putter) - Double bend (Straight or Slight arc)

 

Finishes:

Carbon steel – Stealth or Patina

Stainless – Matte Raw

 

Grooves:

Smooth, shallow grooves, deep grooves (TR), Pebax insert

 

Sightlines:

Line, Lines, Dot, Dots

 

Weight:

Weight can be custom to player’s cadence by adding tungsten (heavier only)

 

I know the hosels on the tyne are aluminum and you can get black only in those necks if you want a carbon head.

Shocked they don't offer the anser wide, that'd be interesting. Great info, good luck.

The Anser and Anser 2 are they offered with different necks? Like basically an Anser 4? What about the Anser 2D?

For me a PLD Anser 4 or 4D would be my grail putter from Ping.

They will use iPING and high speed cameras.

Following this with interest - I have a beautiful PLD Anser in carbon steel - but I didn't go through the fitting (got it as-new in my spec).  I am tempted to get a PLD made, and have to admit I am intrigued by the Kushin and DS72 options.

If they did a PLD Anser double wide body center shaft, I’d be there like yesterday.  I also wouldn’t mind living the rest of my life with 1 test**cle and be called 1ball, if they took test**cle’s for payment.

I like 1ball better.  It has a more sophisticated ring to it vs. Lance.  Lance reminds me of lancing an abscess.  Gross.

Jeff is an awesome guy, he made us feel very comfortable and really knows his stuff. The putting lab is very cool and the marble slab you putt on is something to see. 
 

If my memory is correct I recall them

saying the slab itself without the grass mat on top is 160+ on the stimpmetre.

 

Hopefully you will get to go into the gold putter vault too, it’s in the building next to the putter lab. It used to be in the same building but it ended up being too small. That room is now used for ENSO.

I think they use the App along with Quintic.

 

Rumours have it that there are a few tour pros that have rolled the ball off the edge of that indoor green.

Isn’t the PLD fitting around a grand plus your putter purchase?  Or am I thinking of something else?

Spoke with Jeff and he told me I don’t ha e to bring my putter which I was a little nervous about so now just counting down the days. I have to move my wife into a new condo the first couple days then it’s free time to explore

I am more than a little excited about this topic. I would be curious if they offered a long neck anser 2 option. I seem to remember one being build for Aaron Baddeley some time ago. Definitely following this thread. Enjoy your time in God's country!

Pretty sure you gotta be there.... IF you're gonna drop a g, you may as well get the appropriate services associated with the cost.
