Favorite pre-round meal...

How do you prepare gastrologically before a round of golf? Do you have a big meal or do you snack continuously through 18 holes?

Three peanut butter, butter, and fried Canadian bacon grilled English muffin sandwiches. I have one hour max after the last bite to take care of business. At that point I’m well nourished and gastrointestinally clear. I also try to avoid courses that only provide single ply TP (this is one of the most often overlooked course management strategies).

My tee time is as early as possible and I rarely eat before. Coffee and a donut maybe

I've noticed a correlation where I play good golf if I eat McDonald's before the round ...it's a blessing and a curse.

Hot cup of homemade coffee.  Then how well I play depends on the post round food.  The better I play, the bigger the post round reward.  My diminishing waistline suggests I need to play better.

Totally depends on time of day. Early start will be coffee and a snack bar then a couple of bananas on the way round. Later in day I avoid a large meal and might have some toast and jam.

1 piece of whole grain toast with almond butter and honey, 1 cup of bone broth, protein shake, 20oz water, vitamins (multi, D3, Krill Oil, Zinc, C) 1 IPA on the ride to the course (if I'm not driving) and 1 more in the parking lot.

Squid Ravioli in a lemongrass broth, Swordfish meatloaf, grilled free range rabbit with herbed french fries. Peanut butter soup with Smoked duck.

 

I play very early so like to keep my pre round meals fairly easy

I don't have a go to meal per say, but I make sure to have 30 to 40 grams of protein from beef, chicken or fish, healthy fat from nuts or oil and a mix of high and low glycemic carbs, mainly a mix of brown/white rice.  Sometimes I will switch out to sweet potato with honey.  I also add some fiber by going with kimchi or steamed veggies.

Some excellent variety in the pre round meals.  I'm curious @MtlJeff what do you sub in if the squid or swordfish isn't available?  Can be a bit seasonal like albacore.

One of the first groups out in the morning on weekends.  Two eggs, parmesan cheese, & 2 slices black forest ham between 2 slices of 12-grain toast. Use olive oil in the cast iron pan.

The night before like Indian, chicken curry, rice & paratha bread. Sometimes can skip breakfast on it, light on the stomach yet it carries you. If I'm hungry in the am, eggs & toast or raw oatmeal. If we had left over Chinese, fried rice and eggs gets it done too.

not always but favorite pre-round meal is chipotle, usually a bowl with chicken or steak loaded with rice and black beans etc...if it's early then i'll have toast or oatmeal at home with some eggs and fruit and some other kind of protein

I actually love a breakfest of 2 cups of coffee, little chocolate donoughts,  and a few smokes.  John Belushi had it about right.....

 

And I am proudly serious about my unhealthy lifestyle.

Water and more water. Usually couple pints before I hit the first tee. Food wise not much of a get up and eat guy so maybe banana, pb crackers and then something at the turn. Then home, shower and prepare a 15 course meal of course. Except unlike others here I do it after the round.

 One of my favorite 15 course meals that I prepare , post round , is a dozen Nekot peanut butter crackers ( 2 packs ) and 3 cups of coffee 😉

During the round, peanuts or pretzels and at least 2 liters of electrolyte drink. I sweat big time in the summer and sometimes need 3L.
