First Flight Custom Built

Back around 1986/87, my grandpa's best friend took me out golfing for the first time and I used his clubs.  Well before thinking of buying any vintage clubs, I've wanted to find a set of these.  Recently, they popped up on FB marketplace and I jumped at the opportunity.  These are in far better shape than I could have hoped for and much better than the clubs I learned on 33-34 years ago.  

A little side note, these were owned by former LPGA player, Kathy Postlewait.  They belonged to her dad.  Part of the deal was her woods, a set of Toney Penna and Titleist persimmon fairway woods, 3/4/5 in each.  Will post pics of them later.

Those irons look amazing. I have four First Flight persimmons that I know very little about. They too are awesome.

Nice clubs, both the irons and the woods. Thanks for sharing. One of my good friends was a club pro and had a beautiful set of blonde First Flight persimmon woods. Very underrated company.

Those persimmon woods are stunning.  I think they had a "Golden Eagle" series of irons, so it looks like two of your woods are a match for that.

The irons arrived and I swear they look even better in person than the pics indicated.  One of the best looking sets of irons I own.

I have a First Flight 2 wood coming my way from eBay. I've been thinking about picking up some classic persimmon woods and have always wanted a First Flight persimmon. I've been drawn to 2 woods instead of drivers ever since the early 80s. I'll post a picture of the First Flight one when it arrives.

If you are in love with First Flight woods, I really have no use for my set, other than just displaying them.

The irons looks great. I have some First Flight left-handed irons, only a partial set, forged. They are beautiful, which is why I kept them.

These just came into my possession.  They are near mint, with only a couple small imperfections on the entire set.  2-PW, TT dynamic gold S300 pinned shafts, Neuman grips that are still tacky. Probably the best condition vintage set I have acquired.   Can’t wait to get these to the range to see how they feel.

Pinned Dynamic Gold shafts? Isn't that slightly unusual, because by the time DG shafts were on sale, fewer OEMs were pinning? I know Hogan still pinned their irons into the Eighties, as I had a pinned set that were released in 1988 (probably Japan-only, after Cosmo World bought the company), and my Dunlop TM-92 Australian Blades are pinned, but none of my Macs, Mizuno, Honmas or RAMs are, and they're mostly late Seventies or Eighties issues.

Yes it is unusual.   I believe First Flight went out of production in the mid 80’s, my guess is these were from their custom shop somewhere near that time and whoever ordered them requested them to be pinned.

I still have my Palmer Standards from 1983 or so and they have pinned DG S300s.

Awesome irons, great find. The look reminds me of my late 1980's Wilson Staff Tour Blades.

My Dad is seeking some info on these Golden Eagle golf clubs he has. They look 1970s maybe 1980s. 
 

when ever we search golden eagle it keeps giving my First Flight

The 2 Wood says  Australian Designed American Laminated
