Replies needing to be approved by a moderator

Hi,

I’ve noticed that my replies in topics have to be approved by a moderator. Is there a reason why this has just begun to happen?

There are certain "key words" that will trigger the approval process.

For example, our former president's name is also a noun and a verb that may be used in making a legitimate post.

If the board software sees that, or other such words, the post will go into pre-mod status and will have to be reviewed and approved by a moderator before you will see it.

Thanks. Yes, I mentioned his course in NY in one post and Scotland in another. Didn’t realize this is where we’ve come to as a society.

Politics and religion are 2 hot button topics where too many posters simply can not control themselves.

And this board wasn't created for those sorts of <cough> discussions <cough>.

Therefore the rule "No discussion of politics or religion".

And whenever this particular gentleman's name is brought up controversy too often follows.

Since the software can't (yet ?) determine whether the "t" word is referring to politics or playing cards, hence into the pre-mod queue it goes.

So, if "T", the post likely won't be approved. If "t", it likely will be approved. Dunno1.gif

I’ll just misspell it and hope for the best if I’m talking about one of his courses.

You can certainly try but then you'll likely fall afoul of this rule. shrug.gif

I wasn't suggesting the man's name was profane.

I was, by posting the rule, simply suggesting the "connecting of the dots".

And I understand that the man's name in on golf courses.

But the man's name brings out the worst in some people and most(?) of the time the name itself provokes people.

So, I would guess it's generally not allowed,,,,,,,, just like profanity or disguised profanity. I think I'd probably consider it "erring on the side of caution". :classic_wink:

I’ve seen it happen a few times with zero mention of politics. Nasty posts , or The key word you mentioned , or any other known hot buttons.  I believe they can throttle a thread manually if need be.  But I don’t know for sure.

All of the above.

The software can replace a designated word with asterisks or put the post in a "pre-mod" queue. The queue is worked off by one or more mods; that is, a mod must review it and then allow it to be seen (or not).

A thread can also be put on pre-mod and then EVERY post made to that thread will go to the pre-mod queue and then needs a mod's approval before it can be seen.
