Ventus Velocore Hybrid Shaft in Driving Iron

Hey WRX'ers!

I have recently got the real deal Ventus Blue to go along with my Ping G410 Plus driver. I am literally in shock with the difference in consistency I have seen in the two rounds I have played with. My timing clearly gets along with the blue, so I'm happy I guessed correctly in the profile. But where I'm really noticing the difference is with my miss strikes and bad swings. Heel/ Toe strikes hold their lines and curve half of what they would with my other shaft.

The Velocore technology seems to be doing amazing stuff for me. It makes me want to implement a Ventus in my 3 wood (Probably red?) and also try to take advantage of it in a driving iron. Worried it might be way too stiff at 90/100x in the blue, but I'm willing to try it out!

I was wondering if people have noticed similar consistencies on miss strikes and if it kind of feels like cheating? lol
I would love to get the extra stability in a driving iron, and make it a cheat code for a fairway finder.

Golf is all about managing your mistakes, and I feel like there is no better shaft on the market to help you with horizontal miss-hit dispersion.

Let me know what driving irons you have paired with a Ventus HB shaft and the results!

Thanks,

-DJ

I ended up with the KBS Proto hybrid shaft in my driving iron, but have tested the Ventus Blue and Black HY shafts and they are both excellent.  Very stable with great feel.  Dispersion was neck and neck with the KBS.  Black will launch lower than blue, but since you get along with the Ventus Blue, it would only make sense to transition to the same shaft for your driving iron.

I have a 2021 P790 UDI 2 Iron with a Ventus Blue HB 9X, I love this setup it's my go to club if I have to hit a fairway. I can hit it high or low and even my poor strikes seem to have good results. It has great feel too, prior to this club I had a SIM UDI with a speeder shaft but I just didn't get along with that club.

I also have the Blue 6X in my SIM2 driver, best shaft on the market for me. I just need to get one for my SIM2 Titanium 3 wood now.

Where do you find KBS Proto to fall between the Blue and Black? I have heard it is fairly smooth but very stable. It might be nice to have something a little tighter than the blue in a driving iron design. However, a 90X HB Ventus Blue should be much more sturdy than an untipped 60X Ventus blue I have in my driver.

I have noticed the Blue in my driver feeling a tiny bit loose lately. Its Fall golf for me in Canada though, so my swing in 3 layers of clothes and body at 40 degrees F could be WAY different than normal swings for me too.

I found the KBS proto to be a little tighter dispersion wise for me and more anti-left.  I really have to put a bad swing on it to hit a hook with my driving iron.

I have the Ventus Black 10X in my Srixon 2i and it does feel like a cheat code to hit fairways.

The Black 10X does probably have the effect of being a bit stout for the fairway so that was a tradeoff, but I think the Blue would be fine. If I could choose again I would go with the Blue 10X

I've had Ventus Velocore Red 5 series in Driver, 6 series or 7 series in 4wd in play since 2020, and they are amazing.  However, I don't see a Ventus hybrid shaft in my 2 iron.

I like my 2i or feel like my other long irons, so it has a Tensei AV White AM2 Iron S at 90g shaft, 3i has Tensei AV White AM2 Iron S 92g shaft and 4i has Tensei AV White AM2 Iron S 39.5" 94g shaft.  AM2 stands for ascending mass 2 gram increments.  These are all HIGH bend, strong stiff shafts which are anti-left for me.  I have MMT 125s in 5i - LW.

I B a happy golfer.
