Tayloramde Drivers and Woods Ver. 4.0 (Current Sim2), rolling back to TMAG 2.0 (M6/5) - SIM2 closed appearance

Recommended Posts

Picked up 2 tour issue heads M6 8.0 driver and M5 15(16.2) 3w ,   SIM & SIM2 lines, are fantastic , gotten some great results , however, I am a little bothered by the appearance of the heads looking closed; maybe that’s a “me issue” or a product of eye dominance.   So , COR’s being the same , I am giving in to the “Vanity of Heads “ enter in this trial

Yes I can spin them open with the sleeve , but after getting the M5/6 heads , IMOP those just sit better to my eye

Shaft choices

Diamana D+ Limited (old versions ) 70tx and 90tx

AD TP 7tx and AD DI 9x

(Possibly Ventus line) love the 9x red in the 3w , the 6x I feel fights well above its weight and performs like a 70g in 60 garb, but for my swing the extra weight actually helps with control most importantly and I might actually swing faster (ESP in a 3w , tested 80g vs 90g in 3w’s)

Ill post results after some testing.

It's funny how each of us has our own perspective. I thought the M5/M6 looked way too open and the SIM/SIM2 looked more square (and better to my eyes) because of how they changed the paint line on the crown near the face.

Good luck with the testing.

Same. Everytime I put down an M5/M6 driver they just wanted to fall WAY open, and i'm not someone that dislikes an open face. SIMs appear much squarer on average to me with the occasional fairway wood appearing a bit shut. The M5 fairways tend to look fantastic down by the ball though and are a lovely shape. The M6 always felt a little weird to me shape wise.

Agreed. Love my sim driver but haven’t found the right sim fairway for my eye as they seem to look more closed and even the tour issue heads are more square to closed than the past. Some of that can be because of twist face but also they are more upright than past. These reasons I’ve started to look at other options in the fairway slot.

Eager to hear your testing.  M5 was a great driver for me.  Many say SIM is a significant upgrade but I'm not sure that's universally the case.

**Update ** Driver

Got some range time in and used a second set of eye to compare, no trackman # ‘s yet

(baseline good swings with my Sim 2 max around 275-285 carry with D+ Limited 70TX - If I kill it driving range swing , I can maybe touch 295 , 300  on trackman )

So for the 8* set up key for me was using a 3” tee vs the 2-3/4 for whatever reason that higher tee make any the combo work

Best feeling was the KK 70TX XD ,

The lower launchers , D+ LTD and KK TX XD , and even the AD TP 7tx worked great , would have no issue playing any of them,  though with the 8* head I’m probably not bringing enough heat for those in a low loft combo. Now those of note where 45”

The surprise for me was  the 8* + Ventus Blk  in the lower setting tour issue 1.5* tip, Ventus blk 6x around 45.5 “   Miss was a peel left, hitting around +4 AOA the ball was just catapulted into the air, from my spotter , flying 20+ of the others.  Granted I have to play this set up on the course , I am admittedly the WORLDS premier Driving range player, ranger rick , captain bucket , etc etc.    Hit it high, low, on cue , get on the course, fold like a paper @$$hole .   😔.    But the performance was fantastic , not quite my D+ Limited  / DG load feeling , but refined German sports car handling and power.  One piece one launch 🚀

Notable differences Sim Max 2 vs M5 (Tour issue I do not know the specs )

- For me the M5 sits open vs the SM2 looks closed , even all the way open SM2 looks Square

- M5 again only going off visual , looks flatter than SM2 , just a bit more appealing to the eye

Need to verify all on trackman.

The grip looks like baby vomit , but it sure has lots of cord and is tacky ,  used shaft blues 😊

335g , while she’s slightly heavy  , hey if it’s straight and got some pop , what’s not to love about her.

I've got the exact same head in place (8* M6)

I'm always trying other heads out (even have a 8* Sim2 Max on the way), but my M6 just goes further AND straighter

What's the difference in the two M6 8* heads you got?

Sorry if I was mis leading , only one m6 8*

and a sim2m 9*

the feel , the flatter lie , and ball flight of the m6 just keeps going back in the bag and I WANT to bag the sim2 but the performance while good just isn’t there.   I do give the sim2 max a bit of an edge on forgiveness

Lol too good to be true

They ended up sending me just a standard sim2 8* and not a max 8*, which isn't what it was listed as, so I sent it back

Probably better that way anyways, my m6 is pretty solid.

Really would have liked to have tried it out though dangit.

Absolutely love my sim 2 driver and SIM2 max 3 wood. I have the Ventus blue 6x on the driver and 7x on the fairway wood. The driver numbers were off the charts on the simulator.

I had a long approach shot on a par5 and the SIM2 max 3 wood has a beautiful trajectory.

m6 - Accra tour Z 475 m5

sim2 - ad di 9x , might actually be too long to fit the gap / need / requirement in 3w spot , if I where using a lower launching shaft m5 16.3* would be in there

SIM2 Max ... upright lie and closed face. I only notice the closed face on the 3w, not with the higher lofts. But I also don't mind it because I want to draw my 3w. It's mostly a tee club and I like to fade my driver.

The SIM2 Max driver was a nightmare for me. I don't know what it was about that head, but I was a mess with it no matter what shaft I put in. I liked the original (adjustable) SIM though.
