Junior Am's are majors now? Since when? 3 hours ago? I don't think you'll find a whole lot of support for your argument.

Heck, they count Snead showing up and winning against 4 or 5 local "pros" a professional win. I'd say winning a Junior Am is way more important than 15 of those wins. Does anyone have overall win % for golfers. Would be curious how everyone ranks based on appearances.....Nevermind, found this on PGA Tour.com. Woods won almost twice as much as Nicklaus as a percentage.

Highest Win Percentage (Minimum of 200 starts on PGA TOUR)
Player # of Starts Wins Win %
Woods, Tiger 359 82 22.80%
Hogan, Ben 300 64 21.30%
Nelson, Byron 287 52 18.10%
Snead, Sam 585 82 14.00%
Picard, Henry 201 26 12.90%
Nicklaus, Jack 595 73 12.20%
Sarazen, Gene 316 38 12.00%
Middlecoff, Cary 346 39 11.30%

4. FAST LANE: Woods won five times in his first 263 days as a professional, passing 487 players who had four or fewer PGA TOUR

You’re kidding right? The 2019 Masters wasn’t just some fluke, he very easily could’ve won the 2 majors prior to that Masters. He won the Tour Championship a few months before and the Zozo later that year, with several other high finishes from 2018-2020 rising back up to a top 10 ranking.  Phil Mickelson who is 5 years older just won a major a few months back.  He is not only by far the most famous and popular golfer, he’s also one of the best when healthy. This idea that he doesn’t rate attention is nonsense.

Thank you for the reality check.......what you just stated would be a career for most players on the PGATOUR....I also see Phil as a motivating factor for Woods dramatic comeback........Woods could beat half the tour right now with his B game. IMO

With all due respect to the recovering Tiger Woods, this frenzy of interest regarding his "comeback" has me baffled.  As I write this, the thread is some 10 pages long, with most feverishly anticipating just when Woody will tee it up again as he prepares to again dominate professional golf.  And to this is I must ask: just what are you smoking?   Can't we maintain some realistic expectations here?  The guy is 45 years old, years past his prime, now operating with a battered and bruised body.  Yes, the 2019 Masters win was nice (especially nice that his closest competitors Molinari, Finau, Koepka and Poulter all conveniently drowned a tee shot on number 12.) Nobody is taking anything away from TW's career, but come on...the days of Tiger Woods commanding leaderboards are over.  Another Tour victory?  Perhaps.  Another two?  You believe this only if you have the TW posters from 2008 still on the wall of your basement man-cave.

Ya, is like

Tiger win again? What are you people smoking?

Oddsmakers wasted no time in posting odds for Tiger to win the Masters in April. And gosh, are they low. DraftKings Sportsbook opened Tiger’s odds at 35-1

Oh goodness.  I'm all happy about this too, as most are.  But can we pump the brakes that he'll be 100% by April?

I want odds on him not playing the 2022 Masters.

Eventually all the surgeries and age catch up.

If you think he can go from that limp to playing Augusta in 4 months, you're nuts.

TW's best shot at another major(s) before he turns 55 is likely to be the Masters. Maybe the Open Championship.  Many of the young guys who were going to be the next TW have faded with injuries or slumps or whatever.  Seeing him hit, I don't doubt he will eventually play well enough to have a good round, but lots of players can do that and you need stamina and some lucky bounces to win.  If he has 40 top 5 finishes in the next 10 years of majors, but no wins, what do we make of it?

I suspect people just root for Jack or Tiger, and GOAT debates seem pretty pointless when guys have had no significant head to head history.  It's all been rehashed to death here.

But that pretty much sums up why we’re all here, doesn’t it?

That and discussing what the next best blade is for a 13 capper.

Here's the facts. Tiger will play the PNC Father / Son and of course they will triumph and be victorious. Tiger then makes his next appearance at Torrey where he easily lands a top 5, but doesn't get the W. At the Masters he cruises to a 6 shot victory. He adds another victory at the British Open, but fails to make the cut at the US Open and PGA. Tiger goes on a terror and wins 7 out of the next 17 majors crushing Jack's record. He ultimately wins his last major at the age of 57. He goes on to a moderately successful Champions career winning 12 majors. All said and done he wins 34 majors. The crash miraculously fixes his back. Tiger battles Charlie on Sunday back nine before Charlie wins and symbolically passes the torch. Charlie goes on to win 26 majors because he doesn't change his swing or have the off-course issues. But Tiger is still considered the GOAT. This is how it plays out, take it to the bank! Just blew your minds

You lost me at winning the PNC

I was never good at rolling….cigarettes

But my boy could roll one up while driving and eating a Big Mac 🤣

*this was performed by a professional, do not attempt this yourself.

I’m as big of a Tiger Woods fan as there is, keeping on the side of sanity.  If Tiger can make a comeback and play the grind of competitive golf at the highest level they would a a great accomplishment.  I wouldn’t count against that as I believe he will.  If Tiger can be competitive enough to win a non-major tournament then that would be a significant accomplishment.  Again, I wouldn’t doubt that but now that’s something more in line of stars aligning just right.  Now if Tiger can compete in a major then that’s almost too good to be true.  It would be miraculous if Tiger ever wins another major, an incredible feat.  I would never bet against Tiger Woods as very few competitors have the focus and sheer will Tiger has.  I can think of Ben Hogan as maybe the only other golfer who overcame such physical odds and only because of his focus, sheer determination and the severity of his injuries.
