One thing I love about the DF is that it is so easy to sole because of the completely flat bottom.  It is an extremely helpful aid to the player for setting up to the ball the same way each stroke.  I see the Mezz does not have a completely flat sole as area under the "wings" is sloped away from the center.  This brings a couple questions to mind...

1.  I assume the Mezz doesn't sole like the DF, is this correct?

2. Why did the design team go away from the completely flat bottom for the Mezz?

The flat spot is proportionally the same on the Mezz. Similar to the DF, you can definitely tell weather or no the MEZZ is flush when you're setting up. We agree this is a nice feature.

I`m really tempted to order this putter, it looks great. Question for all you guys who have ordered one. How did you decide which shaft and why? I`m confused about the options and not sure which one to pick. A the moment the Polar is the favorite and then I read about the LA and change my mind, I see some in this thread are recommending the Accra. And then choose black or white? Options are great but sometimes to much (at least for me) when you don`t have a possibility to test. I also wonder which grip would be the best for the Mezz? The grip recommender on the website are only recommending for to the 2.1 and B.2.

LAB recommends the Press II 1.5 for the MEZZ.1. As far as shafts go, I have a bunch of experience with both the LA Golf TPZ and Stability Tour. Tested em both on Quintic in the same head and found them both to perform pretty similarly as far as stability goes, BUT I much prefer the feel of the Stability Tour (feels stiffer making everything feel much more single-pieced throughout the stroke if that makes sense.)

I understand it's your product so you have more information than the public, but I'm not following the claim that the flat spot on the DF is proportionally the same on the Mezz.  When looking at the face of the DF, the sole is flat for roughly 80% of the width of the face with the outermost 10% sloped slightly upwards on each side.  When looking at the face of the Mezz, the sole is flat for roughly 50% of the width of the face with the outermost 25% (including wings) sloped slightly upwards on each side.  Obviously that still better than the 30% flat spot the B.2 offers, but it's not proportional.

Excited to give these a roll.  Especially if people are saying it makes them more consistent at making short putts.  I would love to make more putts inside 10 feet  🙂

Great question since you really can't test any of them.  I went with the white Accra since it was specifically designed for Lab Golf and this putter.  The previous steel options kind of had a dead feeling for me.  I'm very happy with my purchase.  Feel is stable but has good feedback.

I absolutely love this new putter but two things I would love to see when the putter gets to retail.

1)  I would love to see them get under the $400 price point . They would sell like hotcakes

2)  maybe they could make a putter cover that wasn't twice as large as the putter. The putter cover is bigger than the one for the directed force and takes up all the room in my bag. It's obnoxious

The putter cover issue will be addressed but sadly the price point issue will not. At the moment, with supplies the way they are, our US based manufacturing and the need to leave a margin for out retailers, the retail price will be $550

Understandable on price.   It truly is a great putter and worth the price. Will proto owners be able to get the updated putter cover when it releases to retail?

157/1K here.

Wanted to say what an incredible putter! I L O V E this putter. I've played 3 rounds with it so far and IMO, the roll off this putter is the best I've ever felt. The only downside is that I like to tinker with the swingweight as I prefer more weight in my hands with a counter weight, which I can not do since it's been balanced as is. It does feel very head heavy with the Stability shaft but nothing I can't get used to after a few more rounds.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi everyone... my mezz is coming to me this week (Stability Tour 2 shaft, Press II 1.5) and I cant wait. Was wondering if anyone has any advice on ball position. That was my biggest adjustment with my DF 2.1- playing the ball much more forward than I had in the past. Any thoughts on this?

And to the LAB team on here- thanks so much. These putters have turned my putting from my biggest weakness to my biggest strength.

Ball position will still be a little forward, but not as much as the DF. Basically aligning the center of the shaft in between your legs. The smaller head of the mezz  won't have it as far forward as the DF.

I just received the Mezz (I bought it as a Christmas present for my mother). Compared to the DF 2.1, it is indeed 90% of the DF 2.1. It feels just a hair less stable, but it is quite awesome.  Definitely now a SMALL putter. Perhaps it's now because I'm used to my branding iron. I thought that I would like the smaller angle in the press grip, but I actually prefer the 3.0 that I have in the DF 2.1. Overall, a great putter!

Would your specs from a DF 2.1 fitting be the same for a Mezz?

You can totally put a 3° grip on your Mezz. I prefer it as well

That's good to know. Based on my wife's reaction, you have a potential hit on your hands with this. She is totally willing to give up the small stability edge that the DF 2.1 has to get the smaller head of the Mezz. Having gotten used to the DF 2.1, I will likely keep it. But she will be in line to get the non-proto Mezz when it's ready!

I have had mine for a week now and really positive signs. 33.5, 74 lie, black stability shafy set up and dot for the alignment.

I have been using an ER6 evnroll for 5 years and the change is noticeable, i am left eye dominant and am finding alignment a lot easier, it just goes where i look. The interesting thing is the feedback on off centre strikes, the evnroll could hide some off centre strikes but i actually appreciate the feedback on off centre strikes and I am not having any issues with speed control.

ps. I love the head cover 😎

@labgolfwhen will the price of the mezz drop to $550?  I would like to purchase one sooner than later.
