I wonder when Phil will enter his first senior major...

Giving the Champions Tour a needed boost for sure!

Probably not anytime soon considering he's qualified for all 4 majors til 2025. All the Champions tour majors are the week directly before or directly after a regular major.

And due to being a past champion of the Open Championship, Masters and PGA Championships he is eligible for The Open Championship until age 60 and can play the Masters and PGA Championships longer than that.

I really didn’t think Phil would do that well on the senior tour. Lots of guys you would think could have owned the place did not do that well out there - Crenshaw, Wadkins, Pavin and others had the makings of seemingly being dominant but struggled and found other avenues when it turned out to be tough. I’m surprised he’s doing great and I hope he decides to make a run at the Irwin win record.

Phil is a level above all of those guys and is still long off the tee. That's the difference. The driving distance average out there is 275! Phil is gonna be 20+ yards past many of his competitors. He's like Bryson out there.

He just won the PGA Championship. I know I'm stating the obvious but it's not even fair for Phil to be on the Champions Tour. He has kept himself in good shape.

I don't think he cares to play a full schedule on the Champions Tour but if he did I think he would shatter every record out there.

Phils swing is timeless…and every bit as beautifully violent as bobby jones

4 for 6 now! Go Phil!

https://www.instagram.com/p/CWR0jYLpmGz/

What still amazes me is how he (and other pros) find a way to save holes, like this on 12 in Phoenix yesterday at the Schwab Cup Finale. Tee shot ends up like 50 yards left of the green on another tee box, gets relief, lobs it over signage, and saves it!

That shot was nuts.

I don't think it's remotely unreasonable to say Phil's the greatest scrambler of all time. Beyond the cajones to even try the stuff he does, the fact that he does seem to pull it off more often than not is uniquely Phil.

That's why he's so fun to watch.  You just don't know what the heck he might try next!

Fingers crossed Phil and all of us stay healthy cause I could see Phil coming out and stealing events and maybe even a major for another decade to come!

That long swing, huge turn, heel up, has obviously been a very forgiving action on his body and, knock wood, the guy gets less injuries than guys half his age.

My wife and I saw that flop shot in person yesterday.  As amazing as it was he had another on the par 5 7th hole that was a mini flop to get up and down for a birdie.  His ability to gauge the effort needed and control the height of the shot is hard to fathom.  The one on 12 was at about 50 yards over an olive tree, around a palm tree, over the 16th tee box and a greenside bunker with about 25 feet of green to work with.  I didn't see either him or his brother pace it off- maybe they allow range finders but I didn't see that in use either. On 16 he hit a 54 yard pitch to 2 feet for birdie.  I know they all practice these shots but when you see them in person the pros really hit some hard to believe efforts when the tourney is being decided.

Not to take anything away from other tour guys, but like few others Phil seems to be perpetually in love with the game. He loves the challenge, the risk, the competition. He loves being a star. I think he’ll go long because of this attitude.

Great point Maxell commercial dude; )

The key to Phil is how much he loves golf. It shows in how he has always played.

Take Tiger, hard to say if he loves golf. Not the same way Phil does. Tigers first love is winning, getting in the trenches, making the shot required as opposed to

Phil!

Phil make the shot Phil want to hit no matter the risk. Knows no bounds.

Oh yeah, it's totally different. Phil still has that child-like wonder of it all. Kinda what I see in Viktor Hovland - just always seems so completely stoked to be out there.

Older Tiger shows it a little bit more than when he was basically an emotionless Terminator (I think of the whole "walk it in" moment with Kevin Na) but Phil's like a big kid ... but not in a way that comes across as annoying. Hell, Ms. aenemated couldn't possibly care less about golf (though she humors my obsession) but she'll totally hang out and watch Phil play with me.

Incidentally, I always think of Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Goin’ On” with that driving beat when I recall the commercial for Maxell above. I think it may have been an alternative version.

True for the Champions tour. He tied Jack in winning 4 of his first 6 Champions tour events. Not so much for the PGA Tour though in spite of his fluke PGA Championship win. The numbers over the past 2-3 years on the PGA Tour don't lie about his performance on that tour. Look them up. Not a criticism of Phil just pointing out salient facts.
