The  toe looks bulbous again to me. I hate that thick toe look, One of the things I disliked about the SM6 and 7 and one of the things I really appreciated about the SM8. That and the performance on the lob wedge. Could just be the angle though.

SM10 more of the same SM11 is where you’ll see the real advancement for this hunk of metal attached to stick.

Looks like the top of the blade is thicker on the sand and lob. Higher CG, lower flight, more spin, etc..... Smoother version of what they did with the SM7 and a lot like the T22.

Until Vokey makes something like my Edison wedges they are always going to look the same as the last iteration. Is this really a surprise?

I have made a mistake ordering custom SM8 wedges for full price 2 weeks ago. I should have searched this forum and waited for the SM9. Hope the improvements are not too drastic.

Wedgework custom orders are always full price. When a gen of Vokeys get discounted, you can't order that gen wedge on Wedgeworks. You are probably better off ordering SM8's now. Custom order SM9's may not show up until mid summer.

SM8 out of stock at Titleist UK so these may hit the market sooner rather than later...I assume a £10 a club price rise and UK retailers being loathe to discount SM8s.

Totally agree. Doesn't do much for me on looks, although it shouldn't be visible at address and the Mizuno look better in person than in photos.

 

Still pretty content with my near-new SM8's, for whatever reason that design really pleases me even though it looks a bit tech-y in the back.

I'm into the new look.  But who am I kidding I was ordering a full set anyway.  The only real question is if I order a couple more bounces to experiment with in addition to my standard 50.08F 54.12D and 58.08M.

Plus. Its a clean slate to work with if you of the stamping mind. I am not good a that but I know many are. Maybe I will buy a set and ask  @knudson81 to stamp them for me. I am thinking something Dude where's my car. Like. "DUDE" "SWEET" and "WHATS MINE SAY"  on three different wedges.

It looks like they are doing the high COG thing like every wedge these days. Also a beveled edge to hide it at address. 
 

For people wondering why it looks so similar, what were they expecting?  I’m betting it will look even more similar at address. 
 

Vokey is the most popular wedge for 20 years. Of course they aren’t going to change the look much. That’s what people want. And I’m sure most of the grinds will be the same for that very reason. 
 

I would’ve bought an sm9 but I grabbed a T22. Which I’m not regretting at all.

Just one guy's opinion, but never liked the look of the SM8 in the bag and never bought one.  That's saying something from a Titleist guy who buys a lot of clubs, especially wedges.  I've probably owned 30 Vokeys, but never an SM8.  The SM4 and SM7 are perfection in my eyes, but the 9 looks cleaner and I'll give it a go.
