Adam Scott - WITB - 2021 CJ Cup at The Summit Club

Adam's irons are a 1 of 1 set Titleist made for him because he likes extra offset and minimal bounce.

We are never going t see these at retail.  And if we did this whole site would complain about the extra offset.

Those are some very sexy irons for blades!  My guess (without reading) is that they are basically modern copys of his old forged irons he has been using for years.  they are just updated with the modern stampings, but the offsets, lofts, head sizes, and grinds are the same as what he's been using and used to.   Those comparison pics with the two sets of irons would make be highly believe that.  He also said in an interview one time that he likes the older style with a little more offset in the heads, so that is probably what they are.

They are awesome looking, though!  Would love to see a sample of a few of them in an address position!!

Great googily moogily! Have a 2-PW set of the original original 681 (sans “T” stamp) irons, never thought I’d ever see the 681 moniker used by Titleist again.

They had the 15th anniversary special release of the 680 irons a couple of years ago, thought I read they had enough backup sets for Scott until the apocalypse.

The original 681s had a constant offset throughout the set. As someone very sensitive to offset, I'd love the 3-5 iron 681 and 6-PW 620.

Hardly a like-for-like comparison, but they do look pretty similar to the pauper 681s at address.

The 681 is different from the 680. That is why I ask. The 680 was more compact and had a different muscle shape/design.

the 681 is what tiger played forever.

Yes like i stated Adams new irons are essentially the exact same as his previous 680's. I don't know why they are calling his and JT's new irons 681. They are nothing like the old 681's. JT's are the same no offset 620's he has been playing for a long time now.

Nah.  681 has way more meat . And offset in the short irons.  680 is a blades blade. Small all over.   681 is more very low  Vcog  especially in the mid and long irons.  Actually much easier to hit.    Tiger is smart.  He always played an iron with MB benefits , but also with some “ help”.

Like i stated these are nothing like the previous 681's. Adams irons are basically the exact same iron as his previous 680's but with a new name. JT's irons are also called 621’s and they are no offset 620.

Sorry man. I can show you in pics.  I own the set I’m talking about.  They’ve made him copies of the 681 that tour guys played.  I’m not talking about the 681 that joe bought at the store.

Here are what these are copies of.  I’m not sure if the pic above is a 7 iron at address or not. But this is a 7 at address.
I will say this.  It’s splitting hairs to be sure. The retail 681 and 680 aren’t really close to what the tour guys got.  In those times they were all custom tuning sets.  No two tour sets is usually alike.      Steve sticker , tiger , Matt jones , Scott , Curtis strange , Steve Elkington, Davis love etc  just to name a few. End none played the same shape , grind or muscle pad shape.

so this set maybe in between 680 and 681 as far as roots.  But it’s definitely not pure 680.  I own a 680 set too. The 3 iron is skinny compared to the 3 iron of this blank set.

@jblough99 Being happy with... lasts till someone discovers something that seems better.

Change is inevitable, only change must be respected, as it can have derogatory effects in unforeseen areas.

I am happy with TS2 9.5, but that may change.  Thing is I am more flexible with woods, but don't like messing with iron changes cause they are my scoring clubs.   I was happy with composite Steelfiber 110cw & 125cw "s" shafts in 2-LW till I pulled the trigger on Tensei AV White AM2 Irons "s" in 2-4i and MMT 125 "s" in 5-LW.

Yesterday, from 6200yd tees, played a fun round only using 2i-LW, finished with 77.  I B happy with my choices, now, until...  🙂

So they make him an exact 680 copy with different script rather than make him a 680 set like they did last year ( or was it 2019 ?)  when they re released the 680 to the public ? What logic does that make ?

and by the by. JTs irons don’t say 681. They are 621.

Yes that’s exactly what they do and are doing. Unless Adam Scott is purposely lying on Social Media and in Interviews. The 680 for Adam is now called 681 and the 620 for JT is now called 621. JT has been playing the same no offset irons for a long time. On top of all of that. I have friends that work at Titleist.

Lol.   Read your posts on this and then re read mine.    You’ve gone from quoting Scott as saying “ they’re essentially the same as my 680s “ to now saying “they’re exact copies.” Which he did not say.

now. If you read my posts you’ll notice I said a couple posts up that “ we’re splitting hairs , they’re likely a mix of both “.   I think that’s more similar to “ essentially the same “ than “ exact copy “ wouldn’t you say ?   I was attempting to partially agree with you. Even provided pics to explain that I didn’t mean the retail 681.   The set I have is listed by the usga and titleist as “ 681 Tour Proto “. I had to have the grooves tested to play them in their events.  They spoke to titleist to surmise their model etc. since there is no markings.

so to summarize. I haven’t the foggiest idea why you have a bee in your bonnet.
