Gc3 simulator build

Hi wrx’ers…

I need some advice … I went ahead and purchased a GC3 now I need to get the rest of it …

I started looking at mats and I think I’ll go with either the CCE or the fiberbuilt my buddy has both so I’ll go try them and pick one. My thinking is cce is more realistic but fiberbuilt takes most Injuries out of play

which brings me to the screen the first roadblock I hit is do I want 4:3 or 16:9 what are the pros and cons ?

from the screen I’m guessing I just buy a projector that throws the right size picture? Looking to pay around 700$ ish? Is that reasonable ?

computer I just plan on bringing the specs I need to a Best Buy and see what they have

Please poke holes in my plan or give me whatever advice you have

i would check out Carls place golf. they have a good FAQ section. i went with 4:3 as its taller for wedges and sky balls. Size is probably most dependent on the space you have a 16:9 might make the screen too short.

i have the carls place standard screen. build a frame with cheap galvanized conduit from lowes.

for projector i went really cheap and got a Epson VS25. its bright and the definition is good enough. my ceiling is tall enough that i didn't need to worry about a short throw projector. i build my set up for under $700. a just a projector for under $700 is reasonable if you're not looking to get 2k or 4k

when my current screen wears out i might upgrade to the preferred screen from carls place and maybe an HD projector.

Screen size I would go the tallest possible and then whatever fits horizontally.

My garage has 10 ft ceilings so for my space I picked 4:3 and got a 9 high x 12 wide screen.

I could have fit a 7.7 tall x 13 wide16:9 screen but i am happy to have the 9 ft of height for wedge shots.

I went with Carl’s premium impact screen when I built mine. They are great and will be replacing it with another when the time comes..  I’d guess it’s seen upwards of 7500 shots so far and I still in really good shape..

what size area you are working with determine what resolution is going to work best.. I went 4:3 because of with restrictions to get more height.

I went with Carls place and got the premium screen which is nice. I originally had a net return with the projector screen but I wouldn't recommend that if you are looking for a more professional solution (even though the folks at Net return are great and the product is great in the right setting).

For my projector, I got the Optoma GT1080Darbee short throw for around $700 if I remember right from Amazon. Happy to send over pics early next week as I am out of town. I think you will find that its a evolving process to see what works best for you and your set up.

I went with the birdie screen off of Gungho Golf. My set up is in my garage and I went for a 12x9 ft screen. Honestly I wish I would've gone with the 16:9 ratio because that is what my phone puts out. I didn't realize that when I chose the screen size. I have a benq TH671ST that is so damn good. Movies and sports look great on it. If you have the budget I would go with something along those lines.

I have 10' ceilings and went with 4:3 and couldn't be happier.  I don't see the need for 16:9 unless you are wanting to use it as a theater room as well.

Still a work in progress.  Need to add carpet, screen enclosure, nag the ceiling fan and finish molding.

Screen is a Carl's Preferred 12'x9' Blem that's on it's 4th year and no complaints at all.
