PXG Irons

How do they play?  I typically play D2 sw.

At 67, the D0 swing weight and MMT 70g R-flex is perfect.  I usually like my wedges at D3 to even D4.  But, I don’t seem to mind in this configuration.  With my 0211 ST’s, I compared both A flex and R flex.  The A flex seemed much harder to control = poorer consistency.  They are both D0.  So, maybe I’m more sensitive to total weight than I am with swing weight?

BTW, I don’t think I can find a better overall club for me then the Gen 3’s.

For those curious about whether to order 0211 DC's .5" short to match up with irons they have owned or played in the past, go ahead and order them at PXG's stock lengths. Just received mine and they're approximately an eighth to a quarter in shorter than my current Srixons (565's and zx5/7 combo). It shouldn't make a playing difference but the OCD in me would rather a qtr inch long than short.

I have a Srixon ZX5/ZX7 combo set at stock standard length and they are about 1/2 longer than any set I've ever had. The PXGs aren't short, the Srixons are longer than most other OEMs. That has been discussed in a couple Srixon iron threads on here.

Similar to @ilikegolf26 it's been actually 15 days for me since i placed my order and received confirmation of order. My order still only shows as "received" when i track it on their site. I also contacted PXG customer service and was told it would ship as soon as possible

I agree with him that if you're going to advertise that, you have to at least be ready for people to mention when it doesn't happen for them.

It's winter here so i'm not gonna yell at anyone. Sending polite emails to their CS is fine for me. But it's been 2+ weeks for me also.

I’m sitting at 12 days since ordering and haven’t moved off received status. I’ve spoken to regional rep several times and still no clue yet when they will ship. He did send me a couple of hats for my inconvenience.

I ordered two sets of irons. One for myself and the other for my son as a Xmas gift. They are the ones I’m hoping will be shipped in time to put under the tree. I mentioned that to the rep and he assured me I’ll have them before then. We shall see…

Awesome thanks for the info.  I feel old now lol.  I'm 52 with elbow issues and ended up ordering Gen3 P's yesterday with MMT 70 R at D2.  Can't wait!

I had iron fitting this past Saturday and went with the 0311 Gen 3 P in the MMT 70 regular flex and two degrees flat, 5-P.  Just received an email that irons shipped and should have them here in my office (Miami) by December 15th.

Thank you PXG, and so very sorry  my buddy that is going on 4 months for his Ping irons.

I ordered 0211 4-pw with Mt 80 on 11/28. Still shows just order received. I called today and was told they are out of the shafts I ordered and should be in on 12/20 so they can start the build. Was offered nothing for the inconvenience except the option to change shafts to the accra i80. Does anyone know anything about this shaft   I didn’t change but was told I could call back if I wanted.

I don't have any direct experience with the accras, but when I called pxg earlier today, they told me that they launch higher and are a little softer to flex than the mmt80s.

Just recieved my 0211 ST Blades today. I ordered them last Monday. Pretty quick service!!! Will be hitting them tomorrow at the range.

They are so good! Got a new set w/Steelfibers and now seriously considering replacing my Gen3 T. Love the slimmer soles. We'll see after a few more rounds in the wild.

I just turned 60 but went into my fitting yesterday thinking I need at least 80+ gram shafts.  I have the Proto hybrids with the reg flex Aldila NV 85 shafts that are $$$ for me.  Ended up with steel fiber 70 reg for Gen3 P irons.

Depends on what polymer and what temperature. I would think no bearing whatsoever in performance unless you’re playing in freezing temps.

edit to add cold steel doesn’t feel so great either if you’re  looking for comparisons. And it certainly doesn’t cushion mishits.

In a nut shell, is pig’s polymer impacted more so by cold temperatures than a standard, non polymer filled iron?

 Below 40? Below 30, etc?

I have an iron fitting scheduled tomorrow! I got an confirmation email today and the rep told me they are running a special on GEN 4s that is any 7 gen 4 clubs for $1500. Haven’t heard anyone else mention this yet. Said this includes sugar daddy wedges and battle ready putters.

Was planning on gen 3 all the way but will consider the 4s now and at least give them a chance.

It’s been going on for awhile.

what would be the best way to do it? 5-PW with a sugar daddy wedge?

I also have a fitting tomorrow so curious.

7 is tough if you need wedges. I would probably have to do 5-G and add a sugar daddy wedge (or two) which isn't all that cheap. May look to do just the irons and hope the Sugar daddy wedges go on another sale before the Spring.

Although I just got word there is a COVID breakout at my sons daycare so I had to cancel my fitting last minute 😞

The PXG mobile fitting wont be back here for another month so i'll have to wait.

I did the Lucky 7 a month ago. Went 5-G. Just ordered a couple Sugar Daddy wedges yesterday. With the price of the Gen4 irons back up to $275, it worked out alright.

I wouldn’t worry about it, that’s what I’m saying.

At those temps the biggest impact to performance will be on the ball.

If you play often in low temps and worry about your main set buy a backup set for winter golf.

I thought you couldn’t order 2 or more of the same club? So you can order 7 clubs and all of them can be the Gen 4 irons?

Here is a direct quote from my email from PXG.

“Just so you are aware, we have a great promotion going right now that we call the Lucky 7 Promo, and it is ANY 7 GEN4 clubs (Sugar Daddy wedges and Battle Ready putters included) for only $1,499. It is an excellent promotion for a set of GEN4 irons and it will save you over $400. Really great deal, so I just wanted to make you aware of it if you’re not already.”

You can't order 3 or more drivers or 6 irons, etc, ordering 4-PW is ok...Just call them, they will tell you the details...
