Gotta say that black Tour Spider is in remarkable shape after all these years. 

 

I know DJ switched putters sometimes, but that Tour Spider has been with him for years. And I'd expect it'd be a little bit more worn.

It's a classic now no doubt. i don't think the new iterations have improved the shape at all. The "rocket boosters" on the back give it a square profile the newer ones don't quite have which taper more towards the back. 

 

Guarantee DJ has multiple replicas of this putter. Especially since TM still makes the head. This one looks new. If you really really wanted to know you could look at the serial number on the sole and compare it to old WITB pics. I just don't care that much.

Except for a SIM2 Max FW, all his clubs are older generations;

 

DJ PROTO Irons, OG MG Wedges, SIM Driver and FW, OG Spider Mallet.

 

Sergio still in the P750, Rors in the RORS PROTO, a lot of the in the OG SIM, Tommy in the TF PROTO (P7-TW), a handful with a Vokey wedge or two... not exactly the best endorsement for TM new product.

The black spiders always seemed to be more durable than the red. The paint on the red fell off just looking at it.

Looks like TM finally gave up on trying to get a SIM2 in the bag. Got to think next year's offering will be closer to the original SIM.

It’s a different one since he swapped shafts.  He went back and forth a couple times during the swap to the graphite shaft.  The other one has some wear on it.

DJ has always presented lower dynamic loft than most, pretty much always having heads around 10-11*. Bear in mind that the heads they have access to can be spec'd out in ways we don't see. He was previously in a 10.5* head measuring 11* with a pretty neutral face angle, whereas this 10.5* head could measure lower so he can shut the face slightly if he felt the ball was leaking right. Apparently he is very prone to making these kinds of adjustments and rarely seems to stick with the same driver build long.

How does a Graphite Shaft work on that putter neck? Or is LA making steel putter shafts? Didn't think you could make a graphite shaft work on a spud neck like that.

Maybe it's a special made putter head with a much thinner but longer hosel bit that goes into the shaft? Anyways DJ is important enough that both TM and LA would make special products just for his preferences

My fitter mentioned that LAGP is working on a shaft for slant neck spiders and similar putters.

 

They were originally shooting for an early 2022 release, but it appears that the release has been pushed back like everything else being manufactured.

DJ's putter his gaming now is definitely not the one he won the Masters with, that had some nicks.
