Nothing to do with thirst.  It's about how a persons hands behave in though the impact zone.  My hands naturally stay ahead of the ball, so I don't need the help of offset.

Some years back Titleist brought out blended 735cm irons, and they quickly became popular.  I decided to see for myself, so I bought 2-PW set of 735cm irons.  They were beauties, as you may recall.  I loved the muscle back short irons, but the mid and long irons were progressive CB's with various degrees of offset.  I tried my damnedest to make them work but couldn't get used to making hand position adjustments though the ball.  They were sold.

Typically offset is more beneficial if you're delofting the club and controlling the face through impact.  If you're flipping at it, less offset can help you time that release better.

You're welcome to that view, which has merit, but I disagree how you've generalized it.

I don't flip, as my lag is plenty going into impact, to maintain proper distance control over my set.  A few of my buddies flip and deloft big time, which causes erratic distance control with all clubs.  Delofting is common with higher cap golfers as opposed to better golfers, though some excellent golfers and pros deloft, like Sergio.  Sergio's offset of his old P750 irons is 2.9mm 2.7mm 2.5mm 2.3mm 2.2mm 2.1mm 2.0mm 1.8mm.  My 620 MB 3i is 2.3mm or .091"

Delofting is the result of poorly positioned hands though impact.  There are reasons delofting is not commonly taught.  The other more prevailing belief is offset helps people to keep their hands properly positioned, so the ball gets up  That's WHY offset is more pronounced in highly forgiving CBs like Big Bertha B21 irons.  You have a good day.

We agree on most points, but delofting irons is IMHO proper, especially if you're a higher speed player.  Spin control is the name of the game, and face control is the key to that.

Adam has talked a ton about why he likes so much offset in his iron, looks aren't the whole story.

I am a big spin player, always have been.  It was frustrating cause years back I had to work harder at controlling spin.  I don't see offset as a factor in spin control, least for me.  Spin control now comes from how hard I strike and finish though the ball.  I don't use MBs because they are pretty though that is a benefit.  The same is true for my 620 CB set.  Those have nearly the same specs as MBs.

I use MB because I have greater all around ball, as well as spin & trajectory control.  When I teed off yesterday on a really elevated 215yd Par 3, we were hitting into a nice 2 club breeze.  If I didn't adjust, who knows what happens to the ball.  I used 3i and hit a wonder straight boring shot that cut though the breeze and hit short of green, chipped to 3' and par.  Of the other two guys, one hit a noticeably offset GI 4i, the other hit hybrid.  Both had ballooned shots that came up 30-40yds short of the target.

The thing about Adam, his MB offset desire doesn't cross the spectrum of MB users.  It works fine or him, but offset is the least desired spec by most MB users, including JT and Tiger, and others.

Tigers P7TW iron OFFSET are 2.3mm 1.9mm 1.9mm 1.8mm 1.4mm 1.2mm 1.3mm 0.7mm, specs are surprisingly similar to my 620MBs

I agree with AS when it comes to sharp leading edges.  It helps to keep my swing shallow though the ball.  Its a mental preventative.  What's odd, though, offset typically makes a club head appear more boxy.  The added length of his MBs, heel to toe supposedly don't appear that way in his eye, and they are not as compact, like other blades.  Go figure.

JT is a better ball striker than anyone on this website.

you can buy the adam scott offset blades that are the same mb that titleist has been making the last 20 years.  that's what works for you.  I'll buy the new justin thomas zero offset blades cuz that's what works for me.  everyone should be happy with that

Well considering we can't buy either, this post is donkeybrained from top to bottom.
