I do lat pulldowns with 190 lbs.  Does that count?

haha, no you don’t

Is 190 lbs. suppose to be a big # for lat pulldowns??? Haha. I will say that it is above average. Quite impressive if you weigh 155 lbs and are doing 10-12 reps with great form! But how many reps and how’s the form? Like when my friend told me he was doing DB rows with 70 lbs. Had him show me and… Let’s just say he could do 50 with proper form 😉 Or the guy that says he’s squatting 405 that is only going down about six inches! Haha

I think if he weighs 190 or more, it’s possible he can’t rep unweighted pull-ups. If that’s what you meant.

But if he weights 160 and pulls 190 for reps, he should be able to knock out some good pull-ups and feel the molten lead!

it's the last ones that make you really feel it.. like you pinched something on the top of your head. 😂

Ya, the pain of last rep is one thing abut least you moving and yell in defiance!

But it’s that time right after you finish where you’re forearms/bis feel like air is being pumped into your veins and you cryin in pain and fear your arm will explode 💥.

190 lbs. for 3 sets of 8 using excellent form with a wide grip, followed by 3 sets of 8 with bent rows using 65 lb. dumbells one side at a time, followed by sitting rows for 3 sets of 8 using 160 lbs. (have a bad back so have to go a little lighter because of the lack of back support), followed by close grip lat pulldowns for 3 sets of 8 with 190lbs.  That's my lat day.

How bout you, slugger?  What does your lat day look like?  Some pullups?

Good routine.

But the weight you’re using can range from great (if you weigh 160) to pretty average (if you weight 200).

Some Guys weight over 200 can pull down 250 but barely do 5 pull-ups.

“Slugger” 😂 Well I don’t have a “lat day” per se! But I do have a back day haha. Since you asked. I don’t do the same routine every workout. Always switching things up based on feel. For DB rows I’ll do 12/15 reps with 100 lb. DBs. Bent over barbell rows with 225 lbs for 10/12 reps. lat pulldowns (wide grip/palms facing away) with 225 lbs. for 10/12 reps. Narrow, neutral grip can do more. Seated or standing cable rows 230lbs for 12/15 reps…   Weighing 245 lbs I’m honestly not great with BW pull-ups. Rarely do them.

You are an experienced lifter if you are doing sets of lat pulldowns of 190. I'm 170# and I usually get up to 150 on the lat pulldown for sets. I also do weighted pull ups.

I rarely see many people at my golds gym go above 150 on the lat pulldown machine, unless they are huge but even then most of the big guys I see doing around what I do on the machine with good form.

You guys got me missin the gym now. But not really!
No more waiting at the bench…”excuse me, how many sets you got left?”. Or the idiot with like 4 sets of dumbbells he hoarded around his incline bench.

I got me own custom muscle routine. And it’s dope! 🤣

Haha. It’s cable rows, not upright rows. Do those on shoulder day 😉 Haha

Don’t use 230 for upright. That would be beastly! And I agree about crowded gyms. I go to a small private gym my buddy owns.

me too!!! it's a great advantage to have.. I came from fight training back ground so calisthenics was a natural draw.. and being in Toronto, with a huge mix of cultures I found myself training with a lot of eastern europeans but mostly those from russia or the former soviet block.. they were all so dam strong!😄  Great times 😃

I know but still impressive, standing much harder than sitting, I think, never did them. . Gotta really control the weight. You can’t be cheating rocking back and forth.

Yeah exactly. Sometimes I’ll go lighter and do ‘em standing on the flat side of a BOSU ball. Killer core/stability/balance.

I don't know about pull-downs, but how about 195lb -200lb grown man, wearing 45lb weighted vest doing repeated Muscle Ups? (aka Beast/Beast Mode)

This is an old video.... calisthenics!

I’ve spent 5 days a week working out for as long as I can remember. I take your accusation as a compliment. Thanks! Not the first time I’ve heard it from someone whose ego won’t let them accept that someone is just bigger and stronger than they are without “cheating”. If it helps, I’m sure your IQ is much higher than mine! 😂

Weights do not seem excessive for someone that size

I guess, if you're young and have a strong back and legs...and wear a belt...and take supplements.  Seated rows are a lot safer on your body over the long run.

I have no doubt that you're bigger and stronger than I am, just as I have no doubt that my IQ is indeed higher.  😂

Arnold used to do T-Bar Rows with 5 plates.  Of course he was juicing back then, too.  You seem to be just as strong as he was, but without juicing.  That's quite the accomplishment.  You must go through massive amounts of protein.

225 grams minimum a day. My goal is my BW, 245g a day. I don’t measure every gram though. I just kinda ball park it.
Ive seen more recent bodybuilding’s doing bent over barbell rows with 315 lbs +. They are on a s*** load of different PEDs. 225 lbs. is quite a bit less. I’m confident if I was on a nice “stack/cycle” I could do the 315. I have no desire to though.
