2022 PGA Show Releases & What to Expect

Recommended Posts

Hi WRXers,

With the 2022 PGA Show soon approaching, I just wanted to start a thread regarding what is expected to be released.

  • Please DON'T fill this thread with hopeless wishes of what you'd like to see.
  • Please DO include items that have been talked about and/or confirmed to be coming, etc.

I'm sure everyone is dying to get their hand on end of the year deals or wait for new releases to come out, so I though we'd dedicate a thread to this topic.

Thanks & have fun!

From what I have heard there may not be an in person show this year.  Final decision has to be made 11/1.

This is what I’ve heard from multiple folks working in the industry both in Carlsbad and Phoenix. I think the show happening in its old form would be a pretty big surprise.

theres talk about a “digital show” - whatever that might look like

Was told Mizuno will NOT be there if it happens. Which sucks because it was cool to talk to Chris.

I should clarify a bit...

I meant to ask what to expect CLUB RELEASE wise from the PGA Show. Whether that be in person or digital is of little importance to me anyways as I live outside of Toronto, Canada and won't be able to go either way.

I was interested in getting a thread dedicated to discussing what are the almost 100% confirmed/rumoured club releases that should be debuting at the show.

I’m not sure what this means but I watched a live YouTube video with THP last night. They said that there would be A LOT of conversation around Callaway. They didn’t say it would be good or bad, but it certainly has me curious as to what it will be. I really liked the Epic and EFSZ but didn’t care for the Rogue or Mavrik drivers.

I’ve also heard that Callaway/Odyssey will be coming out with a “MyOdyssey” at some point according to a rep.

THP is the paid official HypeMachine for all things Callaway.  So nothing surprising there.

lol. Okay. That’s exactly what I’ve heard people say about them with PXG and Cobra as well. I just thought I’d share what I heard since that is what this thread is about…… now, back to the reason for the thread.

Sorry couldn’t resist.

I have heard from at least a couple OEM that the my-Insert any OEM here—line or product will be a big thing in 2022.  Especially when it comes to putters.

That's what keeps us buying all this new crap year after year..

Last year's product was good but this new gear is a must have.. So I guess that makes the 3 year old products junk.. That's just great... now I need to throw away all my gear and start over

A fully customizable odyssey putter line perhaps?  If so, count me in👍

thats what I took it to be. I had asked him if I could get a #7 with a plumber’s neck and he said it’s impossible unless I know someone on the tour truck. He said to be on the lookout for this “at some point”.

You mentioned THP though… sorry but it’s hard to take their reviews seriously.. They actually had to be badgered into doing a review of the G425 line this spring after they claimed there was no need.

Callaway is like the house brand there. Cobra is a not so close second. PXGs a definite no no with them.

THP pushes their sponsors products hard… to the point where they have no credibility whatsoever. Their Callaway and Cobra threads are comical.

Admittedly, I don’t really consume much of their content and never read their website. That being said, I watched a review a while back and they seemed to give PXG some high remarks. I guess I don’t consume enough of their content to know their biases but was just trying to contribute to the thread.

Are they still have a PGA merch show?

Yes, as of about 3 weeks ago,  as I got early registration info.  However, I know at least TM and Mzuno are not going.  Speaking to several other attendees, they are not planning as well.  Wouldn't surprise me if it gets moved to virtual again.   I think once the companies saw how much money they saved last year, and how demand is still through the roof for equipment, they may never see the need for it again, at least in form we last saw it in 2020.

Yes I believe 11/1 was the go/no go date and the show is moving forward.  However I do not see any manufacturers on the exhibitor list at this time.  Guessing they may not have the excess inventory to stock the show.  Also may be a way for them to save money while experiencing increased production costs.

Why even bother having the show if nobody is going to be there?

Good question, and I don't know all the inner workings, but my guess is that Reed Management which owns the show has a contracted obligation to the Convention Center and needs to make it happen one way or another.  I'm sure there were cancellations allowances for this years show due to COVID, and you would think there would be a clause again.   But who knows, it's all above my pay and knowledge level.

There are a decent amount of companies going, not many of the large brands though.  They may not have to decide until a later date.

I think the pga show is a deal on life support. I think it will be phased out completely soon as each big brand does their own thing.

Big shows and conferences are being phased out in all industries

…plus with supply issues attendees won’t be getting free stuff anymore so no one will want to attend
