I got my 21 uw and liking it. It might replace my 19 hybrid.

That made me think of 17.

Anybody replaced their 3/4w with 17?

(how was the yardage?)

I don't have any problem with my current 3w but this 21 is so easy to hit.

yes. I have carried a 2hy as a fairway wood replacement for 2 years now. I’ve currently testing the UW now and it is longer than my g410 2hy at 16.5*.  Yardage would be comparable with a 4W for sure.

Has anyone tried to replace the weight at the bottom of their UW?  I am trying to lower my swing weight.  I am ok with aftermarket, but wondering which weights to buy for this.

Regular Callaway weights, same as drivers and fairways. They look a little different but work the same. You can find them anywhere Amazon ebay so on.

I hit the 17 as far as my 16.5 4 wood, but with a bit lower trajectory.  I've had all 3 lofts in the UW, and to me, they launch closer to what a hybrid trajectory looks like vs a FW.  Truth be told though..... they're very unique in that regard, the launch and trajectory are somewhat independent to the UW, never hit a club like it.  I think Callaway really got it right with these things

I have not. It came in 2 days before I left on a golf trip so didn’t have time dial it in. I’ve only hit 5 balls with but the flight is ideal for me. Low to mid penetrating flight, just draws too much as is. It will be a week or so before I dial it in and see what kind of versatility it has.

Got to play 9 with my UW yesterday. Hit it 3 times for second shots on the par 5's. First, ok swing, kind of low heel miss that flew low/mid and was about 20 yards short of the green. Great miss. Second, low sun was directly in my face and couldn't see so choked down and hit a screaming low draw that landed just short of the green and rolled over the back. I was intentionally trying to keep it low so could actually see where it was going with the sun. Great miss for a shot I don't really practice. Third, missed my drive right and had about 230 to the green, but had to fade it around a tree to get there. I smoked the UW nice and high, but it did not fade. That is me. I do not have much fade in my swing and it was a lie with ball above my feet. Plenty of height and distance if I had just a bit more skill to cut it would have been pretty good. Pretty fun club. Lots of versatility. With the UW, I feel like when I don't pull off the shot I'm trying I find myself blaming myself and not the club whereas a lot of other clubs in this slot I find myself saying that I just can't pull that shot off with that club.

Just got my 19* and the first 20 or so balls have been great.  This thread talked me into the Trono shaft and man is that a weird shaft.  65s felt like rod iron when trying to bend it, but very smooth when swung.  Able to flight the ball high or low which is a first for me with a hybrid type club.   Expensive, but I think long term will be a great purchase.

Second round with the 19* UW and I have to say I'm in love!  Hit the UW 6 times today, 3 from the tee and 3 from the deck, and every shot was terrific.  Top shots of the day were a 235 yard into the wind, lowish draw to 10' on the #1 handicap hole for an uphill birdie putt.  Close second was the second shot into a long downwind par 5 from 250 which was a nice high straight shot into the green which left a nice easy 2 putt birdie.  But the best thing about the UW is ZERO HOOKS!

Got to spend some time with the UW on GCQuad this weekend.  I have a 21 degree with the 75S Trono.

First off, love the Trono.  Super smooth and has a feel like the club wants to swing itself.  I like it so much I'm contemplating trying one in driver.

Love the sound on the UW, they nailed the feel and sound of this club.  I'm getting about 220-230 of carry on this club which is EXACTLY the window I was looking for between my 4W and 4i.  I was seeing this rollout to about 240-250 depending on trajectory.  I was nervous it would not be enough and would need a 19, but quite honestly these things are so hot the 19 would have been too much and would have left a big gap at the top end of the bag.

I can hit this really high or really low, it does have versatility.  And is just ridiculously easy to hit, especially with the Trono.  Driver SS is 110-115 (mid-160s ball speed) for those in that range, do not feel like you need to go to x-flex with the trono, the S is plenty.

First round today with my lefty 19 degree with Trono 65. Hit it off the deck and off the tee. What a great club. I’m afraid it may make my Ping G425 5 wood redundant. Crazy a 19 degree “better players” club could knock out a 17.5 degree easy to hit fairway metal. I’m a 14 handicap and the UW was not hard for me to hit. Sounds and feels 1000 times better than the Ping 5 wood. Was hoping it would fill the gap where my 7 wood was but this may be replacing my 5 wood. 😂

Just looking at these, why does PGA SS offer the Trono 65 free, and it’s $345 up charge on Callaway?

Either a mistake thats will show up on TGWs future net invoices from Callaway or its intentional/promo to seed some LAGP shafts out there. No one really knows.

PGASS fixed the ventus mistake quickly but this one has lingered. TGW also had a 'deal' on TSi clubs with GDI shafts with no upcharge that is STILL going on months later.

They are out to lunch so to speak.  Look at the "TECH SPECS" for this club....they are listing Hybrid specs not the correct specs for the UW.   If they can't get that basic info correct then no wonder there are other issues like the LAGOLF shafts with no upcharge that are an upcharge everywhere else.

Remember they were offering the Ventus as a no upcharge also.

Aside from the Trono and Ventus Blue … what shafts are you all finding work best in your Apex UWs?

I’m using a Ventus Blue 8S right now. I think the weight is probably right, but am not totally sure Ventus Blue is right for this club for me and will probably do some tinkering. Just interested in hearing what others are finding to work.

I note that the screw-weight in the bottom of my 17* is marked "7." If you want to hit a ball a bit higher, what would you change that to... or, actually, would it even affect launch angle since the weight is center-bottom? Where could you buy these weights? If I got any extra weights with the club, I didn't find them.

In lieu of that, I guess you could add lead tape under the back of the sole?

As a diehard TM fan and someone who genuinely dislikes Callaway (simply bc its not Tayloramde), I gotta say Callaway hit a home run with this club

I have not got these outside on course in this fall/winter Chicago weather but the 4 range sessions have been incredible. Very easy to hit, plenty forgiving, and they go a long long way. The 17 isn't super low spin, it's very playable, but the ball speeds are crazy

I know for sure im gonna be selling my PXG 2h but the TM 300 mini is where it gets complicated. Love that club for tee shots and its an easy fairway finder. If I play the 17 UW then I would drop the 300 mini since the 17 goes so far and would be a big gap between that and my 4i. Versatility wise I should play the 17 and 21 UW as it gives me a good tee club and 2 super easy to hit options. The 21 is 15 yards longer than my 4i but has plenty of spin. Last sessions the 21 was spinning around 5000rpm

I think the UW sits very neutral. The 2 negatives I have, which are user dependent, are I dont like the gloss finish and I wish they had an alignment aid on the crown. Other than that I have 0 complaints about actual performance

I have now until March really to figure out what I want to do. Even tho I passed up on a 19* option already I think the sweet spot for me would be to keep the mini driver in play and game a 19*
