Korn Ferry Tour Q school

First site in FL wrapping up today, lots of recognizable names in the field. Top 19 and ties move on to final stage and get at least some KF status. Other 4 sites are next week.

Thanks for posting. Recognize a few names including 1 guy from my club.

 

Willie Mack is also in contention. Would be a cool story to see him get status. Dude has been grinding for 15 yrs.

Willie Mack has a chance for Korn Ferry Status.  He dusted me in the Flint city Am when he was a teen.

Man I love Q-School.

 

Used to get to watch a ton of it live when I lived in Alabama. Pre-qualifying and the first stage were held either in my town or within driving distance from roughly 2006-2016. Second stage was a couple of hours away at Los Hombres.  

 

Easily the best tournament golf I've ever witnessed.

Just finished caddying it. 
 

Hot as hell down here and wasn’t much wind. Conditions were kinda meh but a couple of the par 5s were no joke.

Trunk. He was a friend of my player so happy to try and help out. 
 

Some surprising names missing out on status next year. 
 

Not surprised to see MJ Daffue up there. He’s got a pretty negative rep from what I’ve heard but he’s a guy who could get a card after a year on the KFT.

I’m all for it. There’s quite a few guys who have sponsors with deep pockets who are paying 20k for a spot in an event. 
 

These same players and their sponsors could definitely take advantage of the system with tournament directors who oversee multiple events.

Appreciate your insights from being out there. Hope the rules are enforced. However I have little faith in PGA Tour management to enforce them.

So what exactly does it mean if a player qualified and now is on to 3rd stage qualifying? I'm confused because I read after stage 2 they have earned a KFT card.

If you get through 2nd stage it means that you’re a member of the KFT. This really only means that you’re eligible for reshuffles during the season if you were to monday qualify.

 

At final stage only the top 40 players get guaranteed starts. The winner gets into all events, 2nd through 12 get 12 starts and 12 through 40th get 8 starts. 
 

So there’s still a lot of golf left for these guys to be guaranteed any events next season

I think from the viewpoint of the sponsors, they’re trying to recoup some or most of the money that they’ve put into the event. This was the easiest way to get some of it back.

Think it’s been mostly with the driver. Luke is a really good guy so it’s great to see him getting it back

Any idea how much this was happening?  Like did every event have at least one "bought" sponsor exemption or was it a rarity?

Glad to see them using the RTJ sites more this year. Capitol Hill, Magnolia Grove, and Highland Oaks are all really fantastic courses.
