Who has played predominantly one ball this past year?

Taylormade TP5X since they came out and haven't looked back since. Prior to that it was the Nike X version of their tour ball which I played religiously until I ran out of them.

Been basically MTB-X for me the past few years and I’ve been way happy with the golf ball. Does everything I want it to do and at the price can’t be beat for me.

I have only played 2 balls this year--Callaway Chrome Softs and Vice Pros

I bought like 5 boxes of Srixon Zstars and i'm going to give them to a homeless person. They are the "glass jaw" of golf balls. Hit them once and they look like they went 5 rounds with Mike Tyson

Vice Pros have the endurance and stamina of a young Mtljeff.

I am actually looking to try these once they get back in stock.

But I have recently committed to Callaway ERC Softs with 4 boxes and I like them so far.

I have never been one to line up markings on putts, but it’s something I am committing myself to, so the Triple Track is taking some getting used to. I found some good results and sunk some long putts already though and I have been playing around with some new techniques for lining it up with some good results.

So far I am satisfied, but the WS Duo Pros also seem like a nice option.

btw, I just won’t pay top $ pricing for ProV1-esque balls where I live and play.  It’s just too expensive as there is thick, pr!ckerbush OB everywhere and basically any fairway misses are a lost ball.

Srixon tri-speed tour.  Great ball for me.  Last year was Z-star, Tour B RX, and Chrome Soft.  They're fine.  My game does better with a less spiny ball.  No problem holding the greens I play with Surlyn and I don't play high spin shots around the green.  After 40 years of trying, I've given up trying to hit the spinny chip shot.  As Phil says, it's sexy but high risk.  Have a few doz TM Tour Preferred that I use in scrambles because I hate them and don't bother looking for wayward shots too hard.

Bridgestone Tour B-XS for the past several seasons, just simply does everything I need exceptionally well and is very stable in windy conditions.

Precision - Accuracy is produced by the golfer. He or she defines the target with absolute accuracy on every shot. The problem is that the the actual target is not identical to the intended target, sometimes significantly so.

The golf ball produces precision. If it is physically perfect, it will fly identically every time. If the club/ball/swing mechanics produces a landing condition with zero roll, all terrain variation is removed. In theory, the Contact has a big advantage over “normal” balls: It’s straighter. If your average approach shot has 5 yards of lateral drift due to spin-axis offset, and this is zeroed out, the advantage would be tremendous, and overwhelm any other limitations the ball may have.

The question is whether this actually happens. And the answer was not trivial to determine. First, a launch monitor isn’t very useful. The Contact ball/shot does have a tilted spin axis just like any other ball, and the LM “models” it. For the Contact though, it’s not that it isn’t spinning, it’s that it doesn’t matter, and the LM is inaccurate.
In real life, what I see is that our error is compound. The face angle to the target line creates “side-spin”, and to a significant degree the Contact removes that error. However, it’s not “smart”, and has no idea of your intended target. Any deviation from the intended swing plane is unaffected. It can only go straighter to where you’re aiming.

I still have a dozen of these, and have started using them again as it gets colder. The more I use them, the more I’m convinced that the above is correct. The e12 reduces random error, and over time the reduction in proximity to the pin results in better scoring. For me, the distance loss for longer clubs with the e12 seems to swamp out this advantage, I.e. if I have to club up for the approach, the advantage is lost.

What would be really interesting is the e12 design with a urethane cover and a 95 compression. It could be a new category of ball, the main downside being that it would be competing against the current tour-level models.

Snell MTB-X for me, all the time. The price is right and if anything else offers me performance gains, they’re very marginal. Bridgestone B XS is the only one that’s had me even wanting to do more testing.

I’ll also say, I emailed Dean Snell directly with a super random question that I knew he’d be able to answer that had nothing to do with balls, and he was kind and helpful when he didn’t have to be and had nothing to gain from it. Good dude.

Played the '21 tp5x, ordered 4 dozen this january and they've lasted be roughly 100+ rounds which is shocking. Probably will be going back to titleist as I need more spin than the tp5x promotes.

How does 48 balls last 100+ rounds!? I can barely get a single ball to last more than 9 holes without cutting the cover (almost exclusively play Srixon Z Star and ProV1).

I have been a bit of a ball ho this season, I definitely have a preferred ball, the Cut Blue, but I have played pro V1, V1X, chromesoft, Diablo tour, nitro pulsar, vice tour, vice pro soft, hammer control, and many others that were found balls.

I'm just too inconsistent to tell the difference between most balls aside from off the putter. I do plan on sticking with the Cut Blue as the primary ball I play, but I don't really have an issue with using other balls.

TP5x is basically the only ball I've played since the 2017 version, although I have dabbled in others. Compared to the '19 version, the current one is a tick shorter off the driver due to spin, same distance as previous on irons but with a bit more spin, and spins a little more around the green. For me a very well balanced ball and I do prefer it to the 2019. If I could order up the iron & short game performance of the new one along with the low spin off the driver of the 2019, well then I'd have everything.

Of course you can't have everything...

Just a little side note, but I think most golfers would benefit from playing a ball that generates less spin rather than more spin.  I think I've discovered this in my own game.

Not sure if there is any truth to this, but I'm guessing the reason for choosing a less spinny ball is because most golfers never hit the ball as far as they think they will so approach shots will leave them further from the hole than would be most beneficial.
