Carry vs. Pushcart Based on Course

Pushcarts are great for flat courses, they definitely help and reduce the amount of energy you use, but for hilly courses, I feel like I’m exerting more energy lugging it uphill and would much rather just carry my bag.
 

(Certain course layouts, the routing just doesn’t make sense to leave it at the bottom of the hill and bring up a couple clubs to the tee box and/or elevated green). 
 

Is it just me or do others feel the same way? For reference I use a Sun Mountain 4.5 on my pushcart and sometimes carry but I mainly switch to a Titleist bag that’s much lighter than my SM when I do plan on carrying.

I do this. If I'm playing a course that is overly hilly I carry. I do use a light weight bag when I carry though to reduce stain on my back.

I used to do this.  The back won't let me carry any longer so I bought a set o eWheels for my pusher.  Now I have a caddy every round.  Golf is so much more enjoyable this way.

Carry please.  A pushcart is a fine alternative, but the simplicity of picking up your bag, walking directly to your ball, getting your number and swinging is ideal to me.  The limitations with pushcarts, although minimal, are picking a route from tee to fairway and not always the best thing to bring right up near the apron of green when undecided about your wedge.  Where I play in the midwest tee to fairway is a nonissue, but in Arizona where you have to pick a pathway often through a sandy wash from tee to fairway it is a trickier proposition.

I carried for years almost exclusively, and mostly it was because the course I played had some really steep finishing holes.  I moved away and now play on another hilly course.  I went back to a push cart recently (Sun Mountain PX3), and I like the change.  The PX3 is light and easy to push, and I feel like I finish stronger now vs. carrying my bag.

Like em both. Push cart is just about shoulder and back. Preference has always been to carry since I started carrying, but will take playing over not being able to do so!

I use a Rovic/club booster as much as possible, and have one bag setup that is a little better suited for the pushcart.  If the course is not set up well for using the cart, I’ll carry with a different golf bag that’s down to the basics for carrying.
