Is it just me? Loved G410 hybrids, hate G425 hybrids.

Buoyed by my success with G410 hybrids and the almost universal love for the G425 here and elsewhere I recently bought a set (thankfully used) of the G425s.

Initial range sessions were encouraging, if not showing any measurable improvement over my G410s.

On course, however, they've been basically awful.

In three rounds (all unfortunately competition) I haven't hit a single decent hot with the 19 or 22 and just slightly more with the 26. I'm hooking the crap out of them.

A chap I play with, who has G410s, reckons the G425s set up much more closed.

But I can't see why they are so different apart from being another of Gof's Funny Mysteries.

Have you double checked that the sleeve settings are the same as your gamers? If the person you got them from increased loft that could be causing the face to close.

I really think that the G410 hybrids were the best Ping hybrids made - they looked really good and that adjustability was amazing. I think that the G425 hybrids just look bigger and more closed at address, even if you take the loft off! Like everyone else has echoed, check the shafts and setups, but I do think that they look more closed and bigger in general!

I hit my G400 2 hybrid way better than the G425.

I tell everyone if they don't need adjustment find a G400 hyb with a shaft you like and grab it.  I have a g400 3hyb with ad di 85 and it really is my perfect escape artist.  Most of the time I can work it hi low and fade draw.  If I want to get after it, competes with my 4/5 wood as well.  I do have a g410 adjusted to 23.5 that I play as well overlap gap to my 5iron depending on what shot I need.

I too liked the G410 better than the G425. I’ve finally settled on the G425, but I had to spend a too much money on a shaft to make it work (Ventus Blue HB) The G410 worked better in a stock setting that the stock G425 for me.

Another vote for the G410 hybrid; just a great head that has worked well with any of the hybrid shafts I have put in it: Evenflow Blue/Black, VA Composites Raijin and GD DI/IZ.

Not sure why, but I much prefer the 410 over the 425, even though the 425 looks cleaner at address.

I also feel the 410 looks more straight where the crown transitions to the face. The 425 just looks rounded in that area, but it's probably just me.

I have a set of the G410 4, 5, and 6 hybrids and they are going no where!! I don't hit the ball that far, but today I crushed a 4 hybrid shot over the green, where the hell did that come from.  I mean a high, nice shot that did not want to come down, they are a beast. And the 6 got me a birdie on a par 3. I really don't know what is longer, my 4 hybrid or the Max 7 wood? But neither are going anywhere, love my hybrids and woods. Such a pleasure hitting good clubs.

I LOVED my G410 4-hybrid. It was my security blanket club. The head flew off on the day before a tournament. The PGA Tour SS had a 48 hour turnaround. I made a total impulse purchase and got the 425.  Honestly it's been a mixed bag. I've hit some really good shots with it...but some squirely ones too. I just don't have the same faith in it that I did the G410. I went ahead and got the G410 repaired.  I am debating putting it in the bag tomorrow.

I would agree with you. Over the summer I toyed with replacing my TM hybrids. I tried the G400/410/425. I have PING irons so was seeing if I could get close to all PING. Anyway, for me I liked the 400 and 410 better then the 425. I actually have the G400 as my backup driver and the 425 didn’t beat that out either.  For me, Clubs don’t changed much year to year. Maybe over 10 years they do. But if we believed the marketing we’d all be hitting drivers 50 yards further then 10 years ago. But anyway, my opinion is the 410 is as good as anything out there new or older so save some money and sell the 425’s and enjoy the 410’s and don’t feel like you are missing out on anything.

Just got G425 hybrids in 22* and 30* and they're amazing.  Shafted with Ventus Black 10tx.

They're so easy to work left or right..... love em, great out of the rough

Played a tourney couple weeks ago and hit the 22* out of the rough uphill with a bunker up front, ended up on the back fringe, nice..... hit from the same spot in a practice round with a 4 iron was grabbed twisted and nasty outcome

Note..... i did remove the weights form the head for more control and less flex from shaft.  Dont get me wrong felt great with weights in and more distance but the control wasnt as good

The 425 series might be Pings best looking clubs ever.  They also might be the worst performing. I found the driver to be highly erratic.  The G400 is the straightest driver I’ve ever hit.  The irons feel horrible, the hybrids are a downgrade, the FW’s I’ve heard some good things, but not better than the 410’s.

the 410’s are one of the best lines of clubs top to bottom ever produced for the average player, and good players.

I'm close to putting my 410 hybrid back in the bag.  It was my security blanket club. I just haven't found the same magic with the 425. I've hit some good shots with it. But some squirely ones as well.  I just don't have that blind trust I had with the 410.

I haven’t tried the G425 line because of the price, but the 410 hybrids were a game-changer for me this year. I started with the 4H with the Alta and it was okay, but when I threw a Tensei from a 3H in there it became favorite club. Same thing happened with the 5H. Stock Alta was terrible for me, so I found a tensei from a 4H and it was a totally different beast. I can’t imagine hybrids being any easier to hit.
