Hybrid set up. 3 and 5, skip 4

Does anyone go from 3 hybrid to 5 and skip the 4 because the gapping is too close? I have a 20 degree 3 hybrid and 26 degree 5 hybrid. I was thinking about getting the 22 degree 4 hybrid but find it redundant. What have you experienced?

In a recent fitting we saw little gap between 3, 4, 5. So we went 3 and 5. About 10-15y gap. Perfect.

I did this for exactly the same reason. I was hitting the 4 and 5 very similar distances so it seemed like the smart thing. So far so good.

same - 19* 3H and 24* 5H is a nice gap for me.

I go 3h, 5h, and 6h.

Definitely, I've found I need at least a 4-5 degree gap between hybrids to get meaningful, consistent separation.

Longer hitters often do a similar thing: 3W, 2H and 4H

I go 2h (17deg), 5 h (24deg) with a 21 deg 4 iron in between. A bit weird, but it just works in terms of gapping and ball flight for what I need.

I carry 5 wood, 4UDI, 4 Hybrid, 5 iron. It will all depend on your distance gapping. good luck.

Everyone else is correct! 4* is a minimum for gaps in hybrids to be worth it IMO. 
 

back in the day Adam’sidea pros 2/18 3/20 4/23. I bought the them and really couldn’t see much of a difference between the 18 and 20 or 20 and 23. Ended up with 18/23 and it was perfect.

Yep, fine to skip one. My backup/travel bag has a 3h and 5h. My regular bag a 4h with the 2h ordered. 

 

I am not the most consistent swinger and rarely hit a long club with the intend to reach the green. For me they are about getting it close and in chipping range. If it does reach, great! So it is more a question of e.g. 2h might shoot over the green so take the 4h. The 3h will have too much overlap distane wise with the other hybrids to make sense.

I only use one hybrid, but I have a 5W, 3H, and 4i all within 4 deg across all three clubs. But I like it as they all give me different shots. I don't think I'd have anything less than 3 deg across any clubs of the same type - so the original question of the 20* being redundant with the 22* sounds right - and like a good opportunity to add either a wedge or different kind of FW or long/driving iron in the same neighborhood as the 20* hybrid.
