P790’s Delayed AGAIN!

I ordered my p790s from Dicks sporting goods and got it in a few days.

Probably the best option and then if you want them custom, go get the shafts and such from a fitting.  I did the same for a Glide 3.0 i wanted.

That is exactly what I am going to do.

 

My local golf shop tried to order them from the manufacturer and they said it would be shipping in February. Not worth it IMO.

 

 I’m a relatively standard person so really most of my customization would be regrouping and maybe minor lie changes.

I really liked the DG shaft in them stock as well.

Well, I’d like to tell you how much I like my new P790’s.  But, I just got the 5th email delaying delivery from 22-Dec-21 to 03-Jan-22.  Order was placed 08-Aug.  IF they deliver January 3rd, that’s almost 5 months waiting for my new clubs while they kept my $1000 worth of trade-ins as hostage.

 

Just amazing the level of incompetence!

 

BTW, my “customization” was +1/2” shaft length on the MMT 70g Regular flex shafts - just incredible.

I’m in the same boat right now. Have you received your order? I also was fit for 105 VSS shafts and changed the grips. What did they offer that made it worth it for you? By chance was it a discount? That’s about all they offered me.

I placed an order for a 5-AW lefty set at the end of September, was initially told they'd be in around now, then about 2 weeks ago told they were delayed until march because of the lefty heads. However; just saw on TM's website that the expected ship date for the lefty heads is back up to early January, so hoping they may have gotten a shipment in recently and might have some positive news for those of us who play from the wrong side.

 

I ordered with KBS C-Taper Lite shafts and MCC+4 standard grips that I was told are already in stock, so hopefully they come in before it gets warm again

If you contact TM customer service they should work with you. There were delays in my order when they were released. They gave me a free dz balls and $200 off my order which was already discounted. I called them 1st thing in the morning and there was zero wait. Just an idea.

We’ve been talking for almost 5 months now.  You are right, they are willing to offer “some” compromises.  They sent me a dozen TP5x balls back in October.  Today, they wouldn’t offer any type of discount.  They did offer to build up a set in SteelFibers for the same price since they had them in stock.  The hard part is that I was fitted in the MMT’s and have never gotten along with SF’s.

 

The rep said that he would check into whether I could send them back when MMT’s were in stock and they’d rebuild them. 
 

The funny part in all of this is that while I was waiting for that email, I received my 6th email delaying them from 03-Jan to 12-Jan.  Not sure whether to laugh or cry….  IF they actually deliver them by 12-Jan, it will be 5 months and 4 days to get 6 irons - geez.

Problem is they mught be out of the shafts and grips by the time the heads arrive. It’s not like they set aside the in stock portion and save it for your build.  
 They build what they can fill.

Yes, they offered a discount but I ended up cancelling the order anyway.  I'm going to be busier than I expected with work for the first half of 2022, and when I do get out and play/practice recently, I've been hitting my current irons the best I ever have recently. 

 

With the "player's distance" category getting a lot more attention from all manufacturers in recent years, I'm fine going back to "wait and see" mode.  I imagine there will be a new TM P770, Cobra Forgetec, and JPX line coming out in the next 12-18 months. 

 

As the category matures, the market for quality used stuff should expand...which is typically how I've bought irons anyway.  The DTC market is starting to look really attractive as well for half the price.

Had my p790s ordered in early October with $ tapers delayed twice to mid December, then January. cancelled and ordered pxg gen3s, got them right away, didnt look back.

I mean, if you don't mind paying a few extra hundred dollars just to get them sooner...and then hope the shafts your get fit into can be delivered in a reasonable amount of time.

I did the same.  Love my Gen 3’s enough to add driver, fairways, hybrid and wedges - all PXG and was planning on it all being the next generation TM to update from my Sim gear.  
 

If I didn’t have over $1K tied up in trade-ins, I’d cancel too.

Full new set was $990 4-PW. with the DG S300 120 in them.  That's all I'm saying.  They are out there just not specifically from TM.

Ordered Nov 3 and still waiting. Traded in my clubs and still waiting for my credit. Won’t credit me until my clubs ship which only God knows when. Totally unacceptable and a horrible business practice. Done with TM! And PS don’t care about supply chain issues. If they knew there were supply chain issues then don’t take orders, accept trade ins and work off my money while I have nothing to show for it

Just wanted to let everyone else still waiting for their P790’s, I just got the 8th email from TaylorMade saying the new estimated delivery date is now January 18th.  Remember, I ordered these August 8th.  
 

These guys really suck - more than 5 months and still no end in sight.

I ordered a custom set on 12/22 and was told today that they are in production and are scheduled to ship 1/10 and be delivered 1/14. Maybe I’m in for a rude surprise, or maybe I got lucky. 
 

Specs: 1* upright, 2* weak 4-7, 1* weak 8-G, 6.0 Projext X LZ, Larkin Genesis Cord grips.

At this point can't you just switch your order to something in stock, like the dg105's, and then just flip them.

 

Or are you still intending on playing them.

I wish you better luck than what I’m having.  All 8 emails saying they are delayed again come 1 to 1.5 weeks before they are suppose to ship.  For January, I was suppose to get them 1/3, then 1/12 now 1/18.  That’s just the 3 in January.  
 

I’m interested in the new Stealth driver.  They are quoting 2/4 ship date.  There is no way I trust them now to order one.

I guess that is an option.  Normally, I’d just cancel and say “screw them”.  But, they have over $1k worth of trade-in gear tied up in the deal.

‘Yeah, the frustrating thing for me is that the only customization is +1/2” shaft length.  Everything else is standard Loft and Lie, Mitsubishi MMT R flex, (standard graphite shafts), standard grips.

I ordered my set at the end of September, along with some MG3 wedges. Originally quoted December delivery but never received. Rep now says they are being built in the coming week and should be delivered by end of January. Hopefully this comes true.

Ordered my P790 (Modus 105 regular) on 29th Sep, there were due to be delivered week beginning 3rd Jan but now going to be week beginning 17 Jan, fingers crossed.

I feel bad for @Soccerrick10 but it will almost be disappointing when he gets the clubs. Like the Seinfeld where Kramer drives the car until it runs out of gas. I kinda want to see how long this can go

 

Like June 2024 he'll be like "Just got my 68th email from TMAG, they offered me a free grip and 15% off a single TP5 ball, but my delivery has been pushed out to December--PS i also don't even play golf anymore!"

 

Like that's what i want to see now
