Jones Bags Release Cycle

Recommended Posts

Can anyone shed light on if Jones goes through colorway rotations over time or are the available colors already set until a new model is released? For example, I know that there was a 'midtown grey' and a standard 'olive' colorway available for the Utility Trouper 2.0, but are currently no longer available. Also, does anyone know when Jones typically releases new models (every year, two years, etc.)

Currently searching for a used Trouper that's in the olive colorway or Grey colorway.

About two weeks ago a buddy dropped by their warehouse to pick up a bag and said to me "If you're gonna get a bag, wait until spring. They're releasing a bunch of new colors," and encouraged me to "deff wait for the new colors to drop." Not sure if that will be on a new model however.

Obviously not a lot of detail and hearsay but I do believe their releases are generally around February or March. I've had my eye on a new bag, preferably Jones for a while and will see what they offer then.

@13ITZ Thanks for clarifying this. I actually reached out to Jones customer service and he mentioned the same thing. I'll definitely hold off until February or March unless I find an Olive Trouper because I'd be happy with either version of it. The part that is going to be tough is pulling the trigger on a bag for Black Friday as I've heard their sales are extremely good.

I think Jones would do well to create some videos; it seems to be the number one complaint about their bags. I recently bought a Utility Trouper and I almost returned it because I couldn't figure out the straps. It sat in my garage for a week while I fiddled with them a bit every day until I finally figured out how to adjust them to fit and make the bag carry right.

I also have the Utility Rover and I find the second strap on it to be nearly useless. I rarely use it because I find the bag carries pretty well single strap. For me, the best way to carry with this bag is to get the main strap fairly high up on my (right) shoulder and sling the clubs behind me so the weight is balanced across my back as opposed to having the clubs rest against my right side like you see in a lot of their photos. To use the second strap on this bag, I first had to loosen it almost fully in order to make it loose enough to sling over my left should once I have the main strap on my right shoulder. Even at nearly its maximum length, I find the second strap barely long enough, and I am not a big guy. For me, the second strap takes maybe a third of the weight off the main strap. It's nowhere close to evenly balanced. That's why I don't use it much, just once in a while on a hot day if the round it slow and I have the bag on my back for long periods of time waiting.

The straps have been an issue forever.  I fought a Jones for 2 months and bought a Hoofer and never looked back.  The cooler pocket is pretty stupid as well.

For my utility stand bag I added an extension to the second strap so it actually sits in the proper place on my left shoulder.  That's all Jones needs to do IMO, is change the positioning of the left strap.  I only use it every couple of holes though.  I posted a pic elsewhere, but all you need is a piece of the correct width nylon strap material and a plastic tensioner, could be purchased online or at Joanne's Fabrics or something.  I had some lying around so it was easy.

I have the utility trouper v1, and it's worked out just fine for me. But I agree, the mega cooler pocket on the trouper 2.0 is pretty stupid.

Right.  Unless your constantly getting piss drunk and need a 6 pack in your bag then more power too ya… that’s the bag for you.

I was a little skeptical of the cooler pocket, but now that I have it I really like it. It can hold my 750ml water bottle and a 500ml gatorade bottle at the same time. It's great to have that extra capacity on hot days. I also find that putting that extra weight on the top of the bag instead of on the side like most bags keeps the weight better balanced.

Midtown grey is out of stock until the spring. I reached out after receiving the Black Friday email so looks like I'll be waiting until then to update my bag.

They also said they're not releasing anything new until then.

Also, just bought a 1.0 Trouper from another member and noticed the straps were awkward at first but then looked at the video showing how to do the straps and realized they were clipped on incorrectly. I adjusted the clips and it was fine. Then it was just adjusting the length/tightness of the straps. No issues since.

Although I'm into cart bags with individual full-length dividers myself,

I've admired the handsome simplicity of Jones bags that I've seen the young ones carrying around.

I'd want one myself if I had any use for it.

I ordered yet another bag. $133 customized was too good to pass up. Quite a few other goodies as well.

Purchased a Utility Trouper 2.0 and a duffel bag with the Black Friday sale, hope to pick them up this week. Straps probably won't be an issue as I mostly use a push cart when playing so being able to take them off will be better than the straps on my current Ping bag that cannot be removed and kind of get in the way. Current bag is also about 8 years old so going to go to the fiancé to replace the "lady's" bag she has.

Pulled the trigger on a Navy Rover.  Really been wanting to try this bag for a while and I am never disappointed with Jones' stuff.  Also went in on the Cayce Golf 3 for the price of 2 sale.  Should all look really good together!
