Anyone "side saddle" chip?

Few weeks ago I watched a guy saddle putt with his long putter on the practice green. Several minutes later he was in the short game area and I noticed he was chipping/pitching in the similar position. Way open stance a set up, and this senior was very good at it grouping his balls around the hole. So, I gave it a try one day around the green and the feeling is like me rolling my bowling ball. (I'm a classic type stroker/tweener - norm duke, not modern day cranker) Back and through swing...

 

Anyway, I avoid pitch shots between 18-25 yards with my wedge and thus I avoid that distance, or I use another method. I tend to shank this partial swing when the shaft is parallel to the ground - without knowing, I take the club too much to the inside. So, I gave this side saddle method a try (for 18-25 yrds) during my last target practice in the short game area. Once I figured out the best ball position, this method is much more accurate to my surprise. It looks weird, but for me, a bowler for over two decades, this swing feels natural.

 

I tried this method at further distances and it didn't work out too well. Inside 25 yards seems ideal for me. With that said, will see how long will this last. With golf, when I think I found something, that something can't be found when I need it lol.

 

Do any of the golf instructors ever teach this method? Or is it a drill?

I don’t hold the club like the guy does in the video I just saw. I use my normal grip and hinge my wrist back and then rotate through. But the gentleman I saw practicing does hold the wedge like he does his putter, right hand really low.

I finding out there many different ways to putt side saddle.  There are many different ways to chip side saddle too

Tried the side saddle chipping today and learned that I can blade it just as easily that way.  I am a master blader.
