What’s the skiing scene like in PA?! I don’t associate PA and downhill skiing. What’s the max elevation there? Like 1000’??

Little over 3,000 feet in a couple of places. Couple of the ski resorts in Western PA are near/over 2,300 feet. That said there are plenty of places where the elevation is between 750-1,200 feet. The eastern part of the state is generally lower in elevation than the western/central part of the state. Philadelphia is under 50 foot elevation. Pittsburgh is around 1,200 feet give or take. Not certain what part of the state @mvhoffman is in.

Well it's dumping here in Sun Valley, ID.  Our course closed 10/31 and as of this morning its snow covered.  We will continue to pray for snow(middle of drought) and a lot of snow makes for a fun winter skiing.  Can't wait till Thanksgiving when the wheels start to turn!  Last year I skied 110 days, so this years goal is 120 days.

I'm 50/50 about the impending cold here in Michigan.  November means curling season starts and I had my leagues start and the first bonspiel of the season last week/end.  

My handicap stayed largely stagnant all summer (too high), as my last winter's swing changes started to really click (sort of had to re-learn how to swing a club and had a LOT of bad habits).  

The only nice thing about winter is that I can go indoors with my coach way more frequently and get a lot of work done or next year

Elevation for me at local (5 mins from my house) is 2,000.  Another local is 2,600. While the elevation is not the largest we have a lot of great skiing here in the NE (Scranton area / Poconos)

I feel you. Winter is here and the weather is gonna dip into the 50's with more chance of rain often. This is cold weather time with wearing an extra layer underneath or starting the round with a vest or pullover. Times are gonna be a struggle in San Jose, California. Feel my pain. 😛

I have absolutely no mixed feelings about winter.  I lived in the Northeast the first 42 years of my life and dealing with the winter of 2014-15 I decided I had enough and moved to California six years ago. Do not miss it at all.
