Butterfield Bermuda Championship 2021 (***NO COVID DISCUSSIONS***)

OK - here it is - the Butterfield Bermuda Championship 2021. Going to put it out there now and predict that this might be the tournament thread with the fewest posts all year. Looking at the field, it almost seems like a three Tour event with Korn Ferry and Champions Tour guys with some PGA Tour players. Really not sure what else to say beyond that, so here’s the thread:-

wind can make this course yardage deceptive, but its not a crazy hard course or a very prestigious event. 

 

Try and notch a win against the B team and secure some status and enjoy some dark and stormy's 🍹

Might get more of a turnout if it was later into fall/winter?  When guys might like a chance to get to warmer weather?

Yes, the PGATOUR still play courses under 7000 yards. If you listen to some, golf courses of this length are totally obsolete, which is complete nonsense.....IMO

They can play whatever length they want.  This particular one is less than 7k and par 71.

They have also added ~300 yards more than the scorecard "tips" black tees for the event.  The 17th is only 507yard par 5 for the tournament.

 

Twenty plus under wins this unless the wind howls.

The alternate list has been exhausted for this event and the field is only 130 players. Says a lot about the current situation with the world but I don’t think I’ve ever seen the list run out of alternates.

Wow! all the way down to #39 in the priority rankings to fill this and it's still not a full field.  Still, call me weird, i think there's some intrigue here, outside of Fitzpatrick, Willett, and Reed, a win here seems like a major career boost to most of these guys.

NFL and NBA seasons are started, so can't give a spot to Romo or Steph.

Saw on Twitter that Hayden Buckley got engaged over the weekend.  Won't be surprised if he gets his third straight top-10 finish this week.  Also, Chad Ramey isn't long off the tee but was extremely accurate last year on the KFT.  This might be the type of course that fits his game extremely well.

My interest definitely leans towards the Mississippi players, but that also means I follow them more closely.  Knowing the KFT stats on Ramey from last season, combined with this shorter course, plus his being in contention a couple of weeks ago before fading on Sunday--all those things combined make him a pretty good long shot bet for this week.  I would love to see Davis Riley get in the mix as well, but his game has really suffered since he won his 2nd KF event in 2020 and then seemingly started pressing to get the 3-win promotion.  Guess it added more pressure that right about that time his housemate Will Zalatoris was taking the PGA Tour by storm.  That had to make Riley feel like he could be an instant success if he could just get a 3rd win.

Oh yeah I’m with you on them as potential contenders. I caddie on the KF so I’m familiar with all 3 of those guys. 
 

out of the 3 I like buck the best but for me Greyson Sigg is the most underrated out there

Field size down to 126…..besides the vaccine mandate its extremely difficult for travel right now last minute to Bermuda. That’s why the field has gone as deep and cut off as much as it has
