Depends what the stakes are or where I’m sitting in a tournament/money match. If it’s stroke play and I’m in the mix, I’m avoiding trouble and hitting an iron, maybe even a 5 iron. Let everyone else hit it in the trees. There’s actually very rare times I’d play driver in stroke play. I only hit driver if there’s a bail out spot. 
 

If it’s match play and I’m behind, probably driver, unless my opponent plays first and hits it OB. 
 

if it’s just a casual round, driver over and over again.

Driver or 3 wood for me.  Depending on wind position and where in the round it is.  Early I might lay back to a full 100 yard or so shot.  Later in a round and I’m in a groove. Driver all day. I’m very comfortable with partial lob and sand wedges. My home course 3rd hole is like this.  From the back I usuallly hit driver.  It’s a slightly uphill hole and if you lay back too far the green is blind.  Pond behind. I prefer to be up enough to see the green surface.

Hitting a predictable cut with driver. Perfect drive is the green. Great drive chipping to green. Good/decent pitching to the green. Mediocre drive I’m punching towards the green with a basic up and down.

Driver. It's my most accurate long club, as long as it won't carry me through the landing area.

3-iron all day. It should leave me a PW from the fairway. While this hole may be atypical, most holes like this feature very narrow, tree-lined fairways, with overhanging branches that reduce the usable fairway even more.

If the hole is under 400 yards, driver is not getting the play. It’s a numbers game for me, and having prime position vs an awkward wedge is a much better scoring chance IMO. That said I’d go hybrid, 250 then flip wedge.

As a true WRX'er..... I'd just hit a little hold off cut 6-iron onto the front fringe,  Get my Scotty tour issue proto custom ground rear bumper 1 degree strong 2.75 degree flat putter with Super Stroke 3.0 + 3 wraps grip and lag it up there for my tap in birdie.  😆

Id say 3 wood but off the tee with a 3wood for me is a 50/50.... id say hybrid which i can get 190 maybe 200 out off and leaves me with a 6 or 7 iron ... but all feelings are wanting to hit a drive anywhere from 240 to 260 and have about 100 in. How wide are these fairways?  I play a few narrow tree lined courses that are about 5800 to 6000 and they are usually tougher off the tee then  6200 to 6700 course.

Cleveland Hy-wood.  It's 220-230 dead straight. Easy to hit as a 7-iron.

Driver. Last round I think I missed the fairway 10% when using driver. 
 

However, I think I missed the fairway (or green) 80% of the time on holes where I didn’t use driver.
