Nippon NS Pro 850gh versus NS Pro 950gh

I know there is a thread out there on this subject but it seems to deviate quickly to some additional shaft options..  My real reason for looking for a different perspective is because there seems to be very little reviews or opinions on the 850gh on the site or with the usual review sites.  Not sure why, or maybe so close to the 950 that it isn't worth the discussion.

My question is more individual to my situation.  I play the 950's in my long-term set.  Unfortunately, I'm getting older and shorter (Driver-220, 6I-150).  I have always played Regular shafts.  I purchased a new set of irons, thinking lighter would help, with Recoil 760 and found they are way too light.  I love the feel of the 950's and debating changing the newer set shafts to 950's or possibly going to the 850's. Looking to stay with the Nippon's due to what I know and like about them.  Obviously, the 850's seem to be less reviewed. I guess I have found that the feel of steel is more to my liking.  But being 60+, does the 850 add some benefits of weight and flex with the same feel, or are they completely different.

Any help with those who may know the 850 performance, bend profile, i.e., same as the 950, same feel as the 950, and if anyone has experience with the 850 or changing from the 950 to 850.  Good and bad experiences would be helpful.

About me;

Was fit into the irons and 950 shafts 7 years ago.  Could get re-fit, but respect the opinions of this site and players before moving on.

hdcp = 12

Age = 60+

Don't change my clubs out frequently.

I use NS Pro 850GH (stiff) on my irons. Mid kickpoint, weight is 90 grams (I think), very stable. Not much difference in weight vs the 950GH. Installed in my irons over 5 years ago. I really like it.

In my mid 50s and have nearly similar distances like you do …although my handicap index is higher (18.3).

…did try both the 950GH and 1050GH years back as well. I figured a little lighter steel shaft might help increase my speed, hence opting for the 850GH

Thanks Mikey PHP.  Great to hear some actual usage.  Leaning toward the 850gh to future proof my new irons as long as the 850's aren't to much different in feel and profile.  Sounds like the 850-1050's are pretty much the same other than weight and climbing stiffness associated with the weight.  Didn't know if they were materially different, as the 1150's are.  Sounds like a "no", which is a good thing.

Here the EI Profiles for the Nippon N.S. Pro shafts…the 850 is a lot softer in the butt than the 950.
