The next 690 MB irons?

I have been playing the 690 MB's since they first came out. This was a few years ago. I am a little surprised that Titleist has not released a "new 690 MB set". From what I can tell, the 690 MB's are still Titleist's latest and greatest "player's clubs".

Does anyone here (and this is a big place!) know anything about what Titleist's plans are with the "next" 690 MB's?

Photos of prototypes would be cool if available.

I did some searching here and didn't find anything, but this is a big place and I had not been here in quite a while.

:)

I would imagine that either the 695 MB's or the 660 MB's will be the replacement for the 690 MB's.

Titleist is so hush hush about what they are releasing and what they are parting with, i don't think you can ever know with them until it actually happens.

But the two irons listed are the rumored irons for this spring. Others include some CB's as well.

Good luck in your search for info, there are others far better informed than me here, so maybe you will get the answer you are searching for.

The 695MB's are the 690 replacement. They are a bit longer heel to toe than the 660 (replacement for the 670/680). The winged muscle brings the COG and sweet spot to the clubface center rather than the traditional heel side of face position of previous Titleist irons. This winged muscle in both the 695MB's and CB's has the same effect as the bored out plug in the 735's and 660's.

The 695's will launch flatter and with a bit less spin than the 690's do - this is why guys like AS and DLIII have been experimenting with different shaft set ups (tip stiffness and brand all together).

So that is where the sweet spot is! :cheesy:

I did see a photo of the 695 MB's. I think these were protoypes. They do look a little wider.

I think Titleist's plans with clubs like this is to just make small changes that will make the clubs a little easier to hit and work. Titleist will always have a set that is "old school" hehe.

Thanks for the responses!
