PRGR RS F driver

LObin

Recommended Posts

I only played 36 holes so far with my newly acquired 2018 RS F but I only have positive things to say about it.

This is not a popular driver on this side of the pond and it's a shame.

The head shape is very traditional. Titleist D3 like.

So is the color scheme.

Face is deep for a modern design, which I prefer myself.

Carbon crown.

W design which seems to provide very consistent ball speeds.

56* lie angle and neutral to open club face.

Anti-left.

MOI = 4600 g cm2

I bought mine off of GolfPartnerUSA for $150 usd shipped. Shafted with a Speeder Evo 2 661.

I had a hard time finding information on the driver but from the few reviews I've seen, what stroked me was the consistent 1.5 smash factor and mid/low spin. This seems to be consistent throughout the 4 different RS F generations.

This guy was getting, with the RS F, the most consistent smash factor as well as some of the best ball speed numbers in all of his reviews.

Anyone else playing a PRGR RS F?

* I just reread my post. Yeah... I do sound like a bit of a fanboy 😅

It's obviously the honey moon phase but after hitting it side to side against my Mizuno ST190/Atmos TS black 65, the difference in control, forgiveness and the extra yardage I'm getting with the RS F makes no doubt. It's staying in the bag.

I bought myself the 2017 RS-F version two years ago because it was somewhat affordable for a JDM driver and after buying and trying the ID NABLA FORGED TOUR HEADS in 4-pw and being blown away by how amazing an iron they were as my first experience with PRGR irons.  Everyone knows that PRGR Egg drivers, irons, fairways are the most forgiving, easiest to get in the air and some would argue longest fairways in golf and I thought the company was all for Super game improvement types but after playing the aforementioned irons which are a thin top line, thin sole, no offset, blade with the tiniest cb i realized that they make players stuff too so the guy I got the irons off of gave me a deal on the RS-F which if you dont know by now, the F stands for “fade” or “forget about hooking it left” or “this club doesnt draw it goes straight or turns over gently right and its forgiving as all hell and as long as most drivers out there.  However, I have never had much trouble off the tee as long as I am playing a fade based driver eg. i25, cleveland classic burgundy and gold one, anything that is not toe in should be fine and the driver plays 45.5 inches which i prefer standard length and what the stock stiff is in the PRGR RS-F is a classic stock stiff JDM flex driver meaning it is a quite soft stiff and then my 70+year old father got a hold of the club i told him it was like a stiff regular flex and it has been in his bag ever since very recently when i got him a non conforming driver with a .cor so high i worry about it cracking so i dont even try it out but its long and thats all he cares about is extra distance.  But if you want a driver that is easy to hit with an easy swing say someone in between stiff and regular, and especially if your miss is a hook or u draw it too much then this club is for you, it is a fairway finder if i have ever used one, i mean it is easy to hit straight and easy to hit well and fairly long.  Coincidentally, the real stars of the show are the PRGR TOUR FORGED irons that many people would put on their list of best forged cbs ever and I am gonna end up giving them away cuz nobody in the western world has tried them but trust me u will not be dissapointed so if you buy the iron heads 4-pw for $300 USD plus shipping the driver is yours for $140 plus shipping, i will put customs value ultra low so u dont get dinged with taxes when u get them and trust me they look good in the bag and play better.  I am of course open to trades or best offers but cash is king. Please PM ME for more questions or more pics.  Please note that the pics of the driver although they are the exact same model mine is in better condition and has same shaft that says m=43 which is stiff and length is 45.5 inches, loft is 10.5 and swing weight is d2.5, will be shipped with a beautiful black zip up leather headcover although not original

I have the same shaft in an older PRGR id Nabla RS 01 I bought in Japan.

You couldn’t pry it from my cold dead hands.

The m43 means that it’s designed for a swing speed of 43 mps (meters per second) or faster to flex it enough to get the best performance. That’s 97MPH.

Just grabbed one of these from Golfpartner. 109 after discount. Can’t wait to hit it but weather might not cooperate soon.

Congrats!

What a deal!

Hope you like it.

I had mine tipped 3/4" so it now plays to 45" and feels a touch stiffer.

Since, I've been to the sim twice and it's been SO GOOD! Super tight dispersion. I keep finding the sweet spot (probably because it is huge) and I feel more comfortable then ever hitting draws.

Funny because I've been setting up for fades with my driver for 5+ years now because it was the easiest way to avoid the left side. Yet, I hit everything from my 2 iron to LW with a draw.

My guess is that I didn't agree with the modern driver's upright lie angles.

Still blown away by this driver!

Wow thats a good looking driver. Guessing it will be hard to find in Europe though. Thanks for the tip!

Many years back I had PRGR Tour VS driver, 3 & 5 woods; these were amazing.  Also had 2-PW graphite shafted irons. Don't recall model number just that the irons didn't last long before I sold them.  PRGR used to make very high-end equipment.  Can't say anything about their current equipment.
