He's lost quite a bit of distance off the tee since working with Leadbetter on trying to hit a cut.  Probably should go back to his stock draw.  At least he was winning more then.  I know, I know, it takes time for a new swing to pan out, but at the expense of 10+ yards off the tee?  C'mon.

 Against possibly the weakest field I have ever seen in non-opposite field event. Even then. That was basically a Korn Ferry event.

A ten yard difference between a draw and fade isn't unusual, since the fade will often have a higher trajectory, giving both less carry and less roll. Hitting it longer via a lower trajectory is the usual reason for hitting a draw, if the hole layout allows it. Besides, it's not how long you hit it that matters, it's where you put it. If a fade puts the ball in a better position even if it's not as long then that's what you should hit, if you're able.

He was top 50 in driving distance before his swing changes.  Now he is in the 200's somewhere.  I'd say that's a drastic enough difference to the point where it's detrimental.  Also, he was never long off the tee to begin with so every yard lost matters.

With no club contract he got fitted online at PXG.com and got one of the super discounted $220 drivers.  Times are tough.

If he is working on a flight shape like a fade then the PXG G4/Proto driver is perfect for that purpose.

The multiple sole weights are exactly for that purpose.

Smart move to try it out.

Didn't Faldo loose distance when he went to the Lead in 90's? He became more accurate and won some majors but I think it may have hampered his career longevity.

He won six majors.  If the ball hadn’t changed I don’t think his decline would have been as swift, but obviously that’s an opinion.

Yeah. His short game and putting during that run may have been the best we have ever seen to make up for it his lack of accuracy and distance.

Yeah Reed looks to definitely be down in speed combined with a less hot ball flight. He was described as "sneaky long" in the past because of his harder draw, and I always thought that was interesting mechanically because he has one of the more open club faces at the top of his backswing. Primarily playing a draw from that sort of position means a hard release, which we see with his hands and left foot/leg action. I feel like if that was my foundation, trying to hit a fade would just force me to slow everything down.
