Wedges 2022

We have very recently seen great new wedge options available from Callaway, Edel, Mizuno, and TaylorMade.  Might be forgetting Ping??

Vokey SM9 is likely the big one for 2022.

I'm hoping to see the PING "Glide 4.0" or the successor to the 3.0 released in 2022.

I’m waiting to see what callaway releases. I’m not a fan of raw, so hoping whatever they have isn’t all raw.
also like to see the bigger companies do what ping and mizuno do, to protect spin with the hydro pearl type finishes

No where I’m looking to get fit, fits Edel.... I hear they are great

Go on their website and click the red get fit tab.  Put your zip code in and see if you can find a fitter reasonable to your location.

Probably getting new wedges in 2022 (I am still playing cleveland cg12s). This is a reminder to myself and anyone else to make all efforts to try out different wedges off real turf. Trying to pick a wedge you hit off of golf shop turf into a net is madness.

Hopefully they go back to the shape of the 2.0 and get rid of the awful curved leading edge on the 3.0...

I am too, I really like Cleveland clubs (I think largely because I'm cheap when it comes to spending money on myself), and I really like the looks of that. Combine that with my 56° having a lot of mileage on it, I'm very excited to see this.

I would think we will see a callaway jaws update. They released the full toe but I dont think that is a replacement, more of an addition..

New PM Grind LTD wedges hopefully…

I read somewhere that the Jaws Full Toe replaces the PM moving forward.  Especially with the C-grind as standard.

Phil's PGA win and Champions Tour success might bring these back (hopefully).  Would love to be wrong here, as I am having my last PM 64* re-shafted.

I should have bought more PM grind backups when I had the chance🤦‍♂️

how does club champion fit for wedges? what is their process?

My experience has been good at Club Champion and I'm sure there's been more correct fittings than failed fittings for wedges there, but I was fit into Callaway JAWS MD5s in May of 2020. 54.10S and 58.08W. The 54° was great for me last year, but I never could hit the 58° consistently. Seemed to always chunk it or hit it thin because I was in fear of chunking it. Tried a few different wedges (SM8 54.08 M and 58.08 M and Zipcore 54.10 MID and 58.10 MID) this year with similar bounces and grinds and same story--54° was solid and 58° was awful.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I decided to grab a couple SM8s with 12° of bounce and D grinds and through 5 rounds, the 58.12 D SM8 might be the favorite club in my bag now. Already chipped in twice and had more 1-3ft par cleanups than I felt I've had in the last year.

I say all that to say it's hard to simulate how a wedge is going to interact with turf indoors. I don't blame my fitter--he was spot on with my driver/woods/putter, but I didn't like the iron recommendation I got from him (subsequently, I was right) and I definitely feel like the wedge prescription was off now too and a lot of that has to do with the turf interaction.

I'll use CC in the future for the stuff off the tee or stuff that sweeps the grass/turf, but irons and wedges will be done outdoors on grass from here on out for me. That's just my two cents on it though. Again, I'm sure there's probably a ton of other people that might speak otherwise.
