Waiting to see if SM9 have a forged option, otherwise im going T22 in copper

Read a while back that it's more cosmetic changes than tech with the SM9, I'd expect more of the same with maybe an introduction of the T grind. I just ordered 45-50-55-60 T22 copper, they're the real deal. Mizuno took the best of previous models and hit a home run.

Has to have a curved leading edge or I won’t want it. Need something that looks easy to aim if I open up the face. The new wedges coming in March from New Level will be worth a test. Steven Alker was praising the look of them in a sneak preview. I like the look of the new Edel wedges too. Big improvement. I am sure I’ll keep a CBX2 in the bag at 58 degrees because it is so easy to play.

It will be Ping GFP or Mizzy T-22 for me. The Ping GFP 59 Eye2Toe is perfect to my eye for all kinds of shots around the green.

Yes sir

ironically there is only a couple clubs I’m interested to see what happening, that I can’t seem to get answers on. 1. Is callaway releasing new wedges before March?

Is ping replacing i210 at pga show?

There's a thread about the I210 replacement and it's filled with people claiming different dates. The most recent consensus seems to be late summer/fall for the i210, but who knows. The supply chain issues have made everything unpredictable

Unclear on Callaway at this point but a PGA show release would match what they've done in the past. We'd likely see some of their staffers using them soon

Thank you. Any details on what the changes for vokey are?

They haven't given the "tech" story yet, but it appears to be cosmetic for the most part. People have pointed out that they seemed to have moved some mass back out toward the top of toe, which they did on the SM7. As always with Vokey, we won't see anything radical because the tour players want a consistent look. Hopefully we'll get some good finishes. I'd buy some oil cans in a heart beat

I suspect the most radical thing we might see is a new grind.  But skeptical of even that.  That being said the one equipment purchase I will make this year is new wedges.  Vokey will be at the top of the list long with maybe 1 or 2 others.

I just want bigger company’s to fix the wet ball stuff. Ping and mizuno did. I want callaway and vokey to address

If you look at the wedge test on the site not to be mentioned here, you will see the SM8 had good spin retention in wet conditions.  Not at the Ping level, but better than most.

My 58 jaws is my favorite wedge I have ever owned. The 54 was just ok. If they fixed it, I would never change.

I don’t always love the feel of vokey. I will try it. I am open to what feels best.

I bought mizuno t20 last year and I didn’t like them.

I saw that, but if there's a company or multiple companies that moved the needle on spin retention that much, that number should become the new baseline. No reason for them to not follow suit

It' actually a pretty low priority for me, and  probably not on the radar for most people.  Loft, lie, grind, bounce, shape, etc.

Yeah, but it seems like titleist is at they limit as far as shaping and grind offerings at this point. That was and is their differentiating offering, but more manufacturers are starting to offer similar options.  Cleveland offers the fully customizable tour rack wedges and they had great spin retention. 2nd place to ping and well ahead of the vokey. Why not develop that feature for all of your wedges? Seems like an easy add on and the pros would appreciate the consistency it would afford them in those morning rounds. Who knows, maybe they are working on it

Vokey schmokey. Basically the same wedge coming out as we’ve seen the past several series. The new Edel SMS looks like the one that has truly innovated. Ordered a 54 off the site. Skipped the fitting and went with the T grind. Easy to dial in on my own with the moveable weights.
