This is definitely not a bad move for either party.  Considering he's being using their irons for a year.  Someone finally threw him a number he liked for equipment that works for him.

Clearly a fake out. Camo ferrule and all.  It’s a glued head. That’s shadowed paint in that area to make it look like a 3d cavity for the screw.  Never seen any oem go this far to cover it up.

If true...which I am leaning more toward, this is so amazing that they would go to those lengths.  Searching old pics and his 585 was def. glued with no adapter.  What about this thread...should ask our resident photog cause they must have used two different drivers (retail and Lowrys) for these pics.

Nothing like a good tour vs. retail debate!

There are 4 ZX5 heads on the USGA conforming list.  Standard, T012, T201, T209.   https://www.usga.org/ConformingGolfClub/ConformingClubList_M.pdf  Lowry is clearly using the T201 version.

It's clearly different.  Now we can move the debate to how the T201 is 30 yards longer and impossible to hook, compared to the crappy retail version.  For everyone that swings 120mph, its essential.

Edit: Now from pics of Matsuyama's driver, he is using the crappy retail version.   Someone has to tell him that he's leaving strokes out there by using the retail one.

To add to the intrigue, the image on the confirming list of the T201 clearly shows an adjustment screw.

The area you circled is for all intents and purposes exactly the same as the retail head; the sun glare is reducing the chrome. not sure what you're seein here.

Gio there is way less chrome on the tour verison. The black plastic or carbon he circled is wider than the retail. What these do I dont know.

It also has the tour serial by the 9.5.

Look at the conforming list.  The prototypes are clearly labeled by the loft.  Like Lowry's.  Hideki's has no label on the loft. It is definitely retail.

Hideki has used the 201 version more often though.  Take a look at the pic from his Master's WITB that WRX posted.  If you look at the serial number, it says T201 even though it's not painted on the head.  The 201 has a longer hosel and a straighter, more flat top line than the retail version.

Maybe it’s a one in a million pic that caught a perfect angle of deception ?

those are the same heads from the witb pics.  See the sharpie “2” on both with matching scratches on the 2.

Is Matsuyama not playing the ZX7 now, I think he won the Zozo Championship with it? Not sure if retail or proto though.

With all due respect, look at the other players. No doubt he goes front and center amongst that group. You have Champ there who literally only has the ball. That’s like (*Srixon staffer)

Surprising they don’t have Keegan Bradley on that list. Unless he is moving elsewhere this year.
