Which SMALL Company Makes the Best Wedges?

There are so many companies making wedges now, beyond Vokey, TM, Cally, Mizuno, Cleveland.

 

I see players -- some on tour -- with Edel, Scratch (are they still around?), Fourteen, Sub 70, Artisan and even Kirkland, among others. As we all look to re-tool our bags this winter, are any of these wedges ones that should be on our radar? Are there some we should not waste our time with?

OK, I guess I can rule out Artisan wedges. They are $300/club and require an in-person fitting ... in Fort Worth, TX. They look awesome though.

Second would be if I order a set of the new Haywood CB/MB's, I would likely do a set of the wedges then.  I already have one of their putter heads that will get shafted if I can find a UST frequency filter shaft (always wanted to try one out).  Then I would have irons, wedges and a putter from them.

Edel is pretty good although they have a very sharp leading edge that I wish they would smooth out a good amount. Great for short game but a full wedge shot or even a flighted one is a bit tricky with them.

The new edel are great. Always loved fourteen wedges as well

Enjoying my Miura HB 58 black I put in the bag recently. Not cheap either and you want to make sure you get from authorized seller. Do not buy Miura’s on eBay

Edel is excellent.  Miura takes the cake though IMO.

The fourteen wedges seemed to perform really well in testing.  I’ve never seen the new ones in person though.

New Level, they are a bit of a throwback in shape, but performance is very good.

Another vote for Kwok or Artisan if you can handle the pricing, they are the best. 

 

If you just mean smaller company but still mass produced, I'd have to say Fourteen has been my favorite.

Lots of nifty wedges being sited in this thread!  

 

For guys looking to maximize spin look at wedges with a rough milled face.  That adds more spin than grooves do.  A rough sandblasted face works too but not like a rough milled face

I have a 58 degree Hogan. Brilliant wedge. Never seen a poor review of a Fourteen wedge.

Yes.  They aren't a large corporation OEM like TM or Cally.  Still very niche here but very popular in South Korea and Japan.

Another recommendation for Edel.   Especially the new EMS wedges with the moveable weights.

My favorite wedges that I've ever had were Miura wedges.  Just behind those are the New Level wedges I currently have.   If one of their grinds work for you - the feel is incredible and they work great for a great price.

Have a dated  Titleist TVD - K grind. Actually my 3rd one over the years. Still go back to it. Also have Numerous Fourteen wedges. Those are my 2 favorites but from this thread, I sud date Muri.  

 

The NEW 57* fourteen RM4 is in the mail..
