RESOLVED: Seller Hasn't Shipped Item 8 Days After Payment

EDIT: Tracking has updated, it is on its way.

 

I posted a in "Wanted to Buy" last week asking for a Spider X putter and a user responded that he had one. I sent payment via PayPal on November 3rd and didn't hear back for a few days, but got a USPS tracking number on November 6. Took a bit longer than I would have preferred, but no big deal up to here.

 

However, it is now November 11th and there has been 0 update on the tracking number and it says USPS is still waiting for the item to be dropped off. I asked for a refund on November 9th, but Seller said that he did drop it off and would contact Post Office to see what's up. It is now November 11, more than 8 days after I paid and there is still no update and communication has been slow. Just wanted advice on how to best proceed.

 

Should I just request a refund through PayPal G&S?

If the item was shipped on November 6th or 7th, it’s still very possible that it will reach you.

 

USPS doesn’t always update tracking. 
 

it’s definitely not the best transaction I’ve heard of, but I would give it another week.

 

then file a PayPal claim if you haven’t received the item.

I wouldn't rely too heavily on USPS tracking being accurate. Shipping is delayed all over so maybe it is still on the way.

 

Seller has good feedback so I don't think he's trying to scam you. Slow communication can happen...

Don't rely on the Post Office  tracking that has happened to me several times and the order arrives.

I retired from USPS after 31 years.  I would advise in no uncertain terms AVOID THE USPS!!!.  The last two items I shipped that way took over 6 weeks to arrive and there was no movement from the office I shipped from. Their service since last year just plain SUCKS!   The seller now has no control.

Whenever I have a problem with a package I shipped, I go and talk to my local supervisor. The package will magically show up in the system within 24 hours.

Thanks everyone, looks like USPS tracking is not always the most reliable. Will definitely give it some more time. Just wanted to check in to see if I should be taking action differently.

Did not work for me either of the last two time when it took over 6 weeks for a package to arrive.  The first one thought the USPS paid off the insurance and then the package arrived and was returned by the buyer.  I had refunded his money two weeks before the item arrived.  BTW the postmaster had already refunded the postage to me.

I would have kept it between you and the seller.  At least until he flaked on you.
