advice and personal experience needed on px6.0 shifting to 6.5

So i have been using px 6.0 (standard) for around 12 years. swing has changed various ways all the while and its probably the best it's ever been now. with hcap dropping from probably around 24 to about 10 now (and thats cos of poor putting and short game mostly... i think i stripe the irons pretty decently)

my question is, when i smooth them, the shape/launch/flight etc is alright. no real complaints. but when i step on one, i have a tendency to lose the ball left. so typical shape is a gentle draw that starts right and doesnt overcurve target. but when i step on one, it WAY overcurves.

now i would say i'm generally a fast tempo and i do love this shaft except for these lefts that really get on my nerves. have been toying with the thought of px6.5 but wonder if that would be too much of a jump. Anybody else have tried both or have similar issues and what did you guys do? i just want to tighten up this left miss.

TIA guys!

I had a similar issue to what you describe,  my miss is a over draw but it’s due to face angle/early release.  Not shaft related

I played both Ctaper 120’s and Project X 6.0’s for about 6 years between the two of them.  I just stepped up to 6.5’s and ctaper 130’s and I can still over draw them when my release gets lazy or I trap the face.   I swapped shafts due to better dispersion and more controlled height with the 6.5’s and 130’s.  I’m going to all 6.5’s next year as the ctapers take to much work to swing for me.

I doubt changing shafts will fix your issue..

so when you say you changed for better dispersion.... it has nothing to do with the overdraw? did it tighten up your short and long dispersion rather than side to side? i dont have an issue with short and long. its really that overcurve left and if going up a flex can tighten that in by half i'd be a happy camper.

Just tightened up my mishits was where the fitting showed the difference.  I did get more consistent yardages off the stiff heavier shafts as well.  My miss was an over draw before the 6.5’s and it’s an over draw with the 6.5’s.   I’m hitting more greens and have better control of my golf ball after going stiffer and heavier.

ah i see. well thanks for sharing. swing is a WIP as it probably is with everybody... so i guess i should just keep chipping away at it. no magic fix sticking in a different shaft hahahah surprise surprise. maybe i'll just slap a 6.5 into one of my irons just to see if the weight helps me feel the release point better. did you find the jump from 6 -> 6.5 to affect your swing or feels in a big way?

I didn’t notice a huge difference going from 6.0’s to 6.5’s.   Believe the 6.0’s are 120 gram and the 6.5’s are 125’s.   The c tapers are 130’s and with those I notice the difference immediately in the transition at the top.

I’d for sure get a 6.5 shaft and play around with it.

From personal experience,  stick to the 6.0 that got you to a 10 and work on putting and wedge play like you said. If you need to hit it a bit farther take extra club and choke down. I did the same thing and got myself to a six then went in the rabbit hole of different shafts got my tempo all messed up cause I felt I needed to step on it with the 6.5 all the time.

It only hurts once, except golf it hurts a lifetime

I've had both shafts many years ago in my bag.  6.5 will feel a little stiffer overall and launch a hair lower.  I had a problem over drawing both shafts.  Dispersion was the same with both and didn't tighten anything up.  If you want a lower ball flight then the 6.5 would make sense, but if not, there's really no reason to switch IMO.
