Heaviest Wedge Heads

I've been wanting a heavier gap wedge. Does anyone know what the heaviest wedge heads out there are?

The one with lead tape on it.  I can't imagine spending retail on a new wedge vs. a few dollars in lead tape for a trial.

I think Miura wedges and Callaway PM wedges are on the heavier side.

Cleveland also tends to be heavy. You can also pick up a 0311 PXG wedge and install as many 4 gram tungsten plugs in there as you want. I doubt you'd find anything heavier than that.

Miura are on the heavier side. NCW are super heavy blanks so they could make a very heavy wedge if requested.

The absolute heaviest stock wedges I’ve ever come across were the Nike Engage wedges.  Those wedges were like chipping with an anvil, so bleepin heavy.  But that’s just my opinion….

Add weight to whatever wedge you want and make it suit your needs.

C'mon you guys, if you're gonna use lead tape, use some lead tape!

 

Sad thing is, this is how much tape is needed with newer clubs to match the feel of the wedge I grew up using (in my avatar). Got used to the feel of heavy wedges kind of swinging themselves.

Yes I can attest to Miura wedges being heavy.  I like to play heavier static and swing weight clubs in general and the ones in my bag are both D5.

edel wedges are pretty heavy and the new ones have weights that you can add i believe.

yeah j use lead tape and save yourself some money. If you have an aesthetic issue with it you can buy some sandpaper and scissors meant for hangnails and you can make it look super neat

Not sure if I'm not good at putting lead tape on wedges or what but I have not had much success trying to alter the weight on my wedges that way... probably haven't put enough on them lol

Wishon GWs are 295 grams standard, and if you combine using a tungsten wgt in the weight port and a 9 gram tip weight, you can get to 313 grams.



Another option is using brass or "metal ferrules", who can add 13-14 grams.

They feel that way, often due to the modified wedge shafts used, and SW.  I'd have to check my stats, but my SM6 heads are around 295-310gish.  Ea with MMT 125s at 35.75 length + grips/wraps, sw is around D6+.

 

ALL Miura heads tend to be heavier.  I have 2 Miura wedges against the wall in my office.
