TM Pure Roll insert

Bought and returned TM FCG putter in 24 hours, felt way light and over priced.

But really felt the ball was rolling much more than any other putter I have tried  before.

 

Did people hear share the same experience about the TM insert.

 

Now thinking of getting a hydro blast putter with the insert

The TM inserts recently have all been regarded of being pretty "hot off the face".

I keep reading this but my experience is it feels soft and mushy and doesn’t go anywhere. Then I hit it a little firmer and it shoots past. Cannot control the damn thing and it leads to three putts which are rare with my other putters.
 

I can only assume it’s because I’m used to milled putters which I’ve never struggled with for distance control. So the spider just sits in a corner.

Recently starting using a Spider putter, and I had the same problem for the first few weeks. However, now that I've gotren used to the feel I love it and my speed has never been better.

 

I could see the hot face being an issue if you're regularly playing on greens that roll a 13+ on the stimp, but for my clubs 10-11 greens it's the perfect balance of enough "pop" off the face on those long uphill putts while still allowing some touch/feel on the downhill ones.

I love my Pure Roll on my gamer TM SpiderX Chalk CS (white insert) with any of the X clicker balls.  Feels perfect and the distance control is second to none.  I would say even better than my Machine M1 VMG deep milled carbon steel putter, which is why she is in the ole golf locker and not in the game bag.

If you like the feel and roll off the face of the FCG, I would recommend sticking with it and maybe ordering a heavier weight for the sole of the club. Stock set up does play very light compared to other offerings though.  Primary reason to try the FCG again is because the insert in the hydroblast TP and Spider X putters are different than the insert in the FCG line. Insert in hydroblast TP and spider X are a softer insert, the only to get the firmer feel of the FCG insert is to go through the MySpider or MyTP custom program. 

 

....Or find someone selling on. 

 

...Oh, and TM is not likely to send you a different insert...

Some outlet did a test that found the TaylorMade insert gets the ball rolling the soonest with the least skid. I would not say it is soft. I also like smooth faces — currently gaming a Ping Heppler — because I like the speed. To me the TM insert is not soft like a deep-milled putter. I would recommend stick with it, look at the total weight, etc.
