Miura Irons What Is Your Favorite Set?

PDWALKER

Recommended Posts

I have played a set of the 101's and absolutely loved them! I switched to the 301's since I am lucky to play once a week these days. The 301's are so easy to hit which is so nice but man those 101's are just calling my name again. What Miura irons are you playing and why?

I play the CB-1008, they have a sleek topline but enough help with the cavity to provide a decent sized sweet spot.  I also find Miuras very responsive in terms of where you struck the ball on the face.  Overall, very pleased and they've been in my bag for years.

That a sweet set of sticks! I agree love how you get great the great response from the irons. I believe that can help you become a better player.

MB-101s are the only Miura irons I've owned and I intend to play them for as long as possible. I am sure other past and future models may have other great characteristics, but I am totally content with my MB-101 set 🙂

Cb-501's here. First set. They are better than I am. Surprisingly forgiving for such a blade like appearance at address. Except the 5i...

1) MB-001. As good a blade as I've ever tried and I've tried several dozen. It plays in all conditions and the forging is the best Miura has produced. It reminds me a lot of the J33. I just wish I had a reliable source for more of them as I would be perfectly content to play them for the rest of my life.

2) CB-57. One of the best cavity back irons ever made and runs a very close second to the Tourstage Z101 as my favorite all-time iron. Very dependable from all lies and no surprises, just a solid feel and performer. I have two new sets in reserve and again think these forgings from the 1957 series are the best Miura has produced.

Nothing against the newer stuff as I have some TC-201's and MB-101's I'm trying out for next year. We'll see which ones make the bag come next Spring.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

1. 57 series either the blade or cavity. Have a set of both that are beaten to hell and now on range duty.
2. people don’t like it as much a different do. but the tc 201 is a top notch iron with updated c dimension and vertical cog. Once lie is adjusted they straight perform.
3. The jack. I got to hit a 7 iron and by far the best Miura iron ever made. Why3? Bc I can’t get a set

I'm not a Miura connoisseur, or a Titleist one, but have always wondered if a Miura veteran had ever tried the Titleist that were made by Miura and if they were held to the same standards

They are and aren’t. I’m sure they do some stuff for titleist Japan still but that’s old tiger t blade isn’t close to as good as recent offerings and I know I’ve hit them

I see people tend to argue that there isn’t much difference between cb-1008 and TC-201 in terms of feel or forgiveness. If the price is not a factor, which one would you go for?

Recently got fit into the Tc 201. The irons looked pure but gave me some forgiveness which is awesome for a players iron. I played baby blades for a few months too but those didn't do it for me... I know I'm nuts. I think the baby blade was too much iron for me, I wasn't the player intended to hit those as they should.

I think the current TC is my top choice from what Ive played/hit.

No price issue? Tc 201 all day. I think the aesthetical changes to make the club look more visually appealing are significant. The transition from hosel to head (par area) looks cleaner and less like the hosel sticks out. The top of the club also looks more refined. The sole width i would guess is also significantly smaller. Just a better club all around. If you decide on getting a set let me know. I have crazy hookups

Thank  you for your explanation. If you don’t mind me asking, what about between Mc-501 and tc-201 then? I know Mc-501 is going to be less forgiving, but is the trade off worth it in terms of feel and control?

I would say they are equally forgiving. The difference being in the two is sole grind and  length heel to toe. The mc 501 are noticeably longer heel to toe with a difference toe shape and then the grind is a y grind vs a modified c grind. Again grind is a feel thing. When I tested both they produced almost identical results. The shape in the 501 was just like looking at a long foot

I know how you feel. I got a set of baby blades about 4 (or 5?) years ago and they've spoiled me for any other club.

Enjoy your new irons, GMcKelvie!!

I'm thinking about getting this set CB101.  Don't you think it's similar to the Honma PP 737, which is very unforgivable to me ?

I played the CB 501 for several years and once I got used to them they were good, maybe a bit too good for me in the 4 and 5 iron. Project X 5.0 shafts and Winn grips.

Just purchased a set of TC 201 irons with Steelfiber 95 shafts and pure grips.  In Canada so only on the simulator but 1* stronger loft and playing them 1.5* upright instead of 1.0* on the 501.  They seem easier or more forgiving and maybe 8yds longer for me.  The 4 and 5 irons are much easier for me to hit.

I’m about a 7 handicap and getting old at 56😀
