Anyone have experience with the JPX 921 Tour Gap Wedge?

I have the 919 Forged Irons but lost my gap wedge.. was wondering if anyone had played the 921 Tour Gap wedge? I am curious about this blend or if I should just match my SW and LW with a Vokey

I have one and I'm not a fan of it.  IMO it's more of a 10-iron than a wedge.  YMMV.

Not a great fan of it. I use it as a 110-115 club. All my chipping is done with 54 & 58 Vokey's. Occasionally I use a hybrid to putt when off the green and the conditions permit.

I use it and it’s fine. I don’t love it, but I find that it’s better than my Vokey on full to 3/4-ish shots. My 921 Tour PW and GW are more like 10 and 11 irons, then I go into a 54 and 58 around the green.

I use strictly as a "normal" iron. Occasionally to flight a shot down, I will use the pitching wedge. If I was going to use the gap wedge for more creative shots, I would swap it out for a speciality wedge.

I got a set of JPX921 HotMetal Pro irons 4-P and they slipped a 921 HotMetal Gap wedge into the set without me realising that it is a separate line to the irons.  I was disappointed with that sneaky tactic from the reseller but after using the GW for a round l liked it so much I went in and bought the SW and LW to complete the wedge set.  I don't know what the differences are between the 921 HotMetal wedges and 921 tour wedges, apart from being forged (have never actually seen one), but the HotMetal wedges are really good.  I came from a set of Cleveland CBX wedges so I like forgiveness in my wedges even though I am a low single digit marker.  The Hotmetals are marginally less forgiving on toe strikes which you'd expect.

I like mine for full swing 120-125 shots but not much else.  Use my 54 for everything under.

I find it interesting that the 921 jpx HM and HMP both end PW at 44* and then actually use the same JPX wedge lines on the website.  Prob more for transition to anyone using blade/specialty wedges.

I like it. I don't use gap wedge for any specialty shots, like others have mentioned. I hit two shots with it, like I would my other irons: a full shot that goes around 130, and a knock-down for the 115-120 shot when I don't want to murder my 54° and risk ballooning it up with too much spin.

 

I do all my pitching/chipping with my 58°

I had the same experience.  The gap wedge is fine for plain vanilla iron play.  I just prefer a wedge that gives me more options so I swapped it out.

I have the 921 Forged set 4-P added the 921 Gap and sand wedge. Love the sand wedge - the gap just doesn't work for me. For some reason the gap looks to.. offset/closed compared to the rest of the set... The distance does fit well between the P and the sand but just seem to fight hitting the gap...

Have used the 921 Tour gap for a few rounds now... surprisingly not very soft. Feels solid off the face, not a bad thing I just thought it would be softer. I've felt my 3/4, 1/2, and chips with this club have been very consistent. 

 

I like the less spin off the full shots compared to a speciality wedge but there is still plenty of spin to pull back a few feet if needed

I have the 921 forged gw and like others mentioned it’s more of an iron. If I had to do it again I would have just gone with a specialty wedge. The offset just looks weird at that loft when the head is part of an iron set.
