Quick question. Do I need to pay import tax if I buy through them?

Depends what you order. Buying single clubs you don't have to pay anything. Buying a set you will. I just don't know if that applies to new clubs only or used as well. I remember paying import taxes when I ordered new PRGR irons set two years ago. I don't remember paying anything for a set of S-Yards that were new but sold as used.

I bought a couple sets of iron heads and never had to pay import taxes. They are fine but their communication is absolutely s***. Can make you want to pull your hair out. I don’t know if it’s a language barrier or what but you will get various people answering you and none have talked to each other. If you know exactly what you want then no issues. If I can buy something on a Japanese buying service I’d go that way every time. I like fromjapan. If you see something you like that’s not on tourspec they usually can track it down for you and talk to the smaller companies since they are there and know the language so that’s a plus.

Yea you don't pay import duty on heads. It only applies to complete clubs. I just spent twenty minutes googling it, but can't find the link I've read before that outlined what's taxed or not when it comes to golf equipment. I think they send that to you if you have pay. I paid like $80-90 for 5-W + 2 wedges. It's a non-issue in my opinion. If you can afford to buy from TSG you can afford import duty LOL

When i lived in Hong Kong i bought a set of Japan forged Titleist irons, VG3, from TourSpec.  No problems at all.  The irons were a discontinued model and i paid a fair price, US$100 each, 5i-pw.

I like their customer service. I was checking on a set of shafts, and found out parallel tip ones are way cheaper than tapered tip ones, even though they are same shafts. So I had a doubt they didn't update the price on tapered tip ones. Email them and got a code for price match.

My first dealings with them I was asking about a club they had on their site and they kept asking which one I wanted it turned out that it was discontinued I sent them the link over and over and they couldn’t figure it out. And I’d wait days in between emails. Was the most maddening thing ever.

I still haven’t figured out what the “meat rate” is and how that comes into play on a shaft, lol.

I have ordered several times from them mostly Ryoma drivers or Jbeam. Never once had a problem even once I decided to change my order before anything shipped and it was handled very fast and professionally. If I felt like spending my savings Lol! I would ordered with them anyway of the week as JDM equipment isn't cheap.

For sure if you know what you want they are good and it’s also nice to have all that sick jdm gear compiled in one place. For that alone it’s worth it. 
 

Just another experience with them I forgot about I ordered a set of irons that came free with a set of shafts but I told them I didn’t want the shafts installed just ship them in the box. This was confirmed that it was ok by then. I changed my mind on the irons and tried to cancel the order and they said they couldn’t cancel the order because the shafts were already being installed in the heads. 😂😂😂. I took the irons but made sure I got a set of new raw shafts because I wanted to do the install myself.

I have made 2 orders some years ago, they are legit, seems like they dropship items from different sources, atleast what I ordered.

 

If you want to save some money on a few years older equipent japanese rakuten marketplace or yahoo auctions can be a great deal !
