DG 120 S300 different lengths ? Seems odd

I have a set from p770s ordered +1/2", and a set of t100s ordered +1/2" i pulled both and reinstalled in 2 different sets an noticed the label dont line up.

 

One set is like 1/2"-3/4" lower on the label line than the other set, how is that? Id assume they would be the same so does that mean one set was tipped or just that the labels could be off or any thoughts??

Assuming the labels are actually located in the same physical place on each shaft, it sounds like one set may have been soft stepped. If the Taylormade set is/was the one with labels higher up then that would line up with what I have heard is a policy of soft stepping once as a stock practice unless otherwise specified. Not 100% sure if that is true, but it would make sense. Lining up the step patterns and/or checking the butt code of supposedly matching shafts from each set would confirm this i.e. the 6i shaft should be 38.5" raw and that will be lasered into part of the code on the handle. If one of the 6-irons has a 39" marked shaft than that is a soft step.

Ok had no idea,

 

That would make sense because one set seems to spin a little more than the other even though they are different heads. The difference in ball flight feel and spin is what made me take a second look at them to compare both sets and I was confused.

 

I will have to go back and look at the step patterns and get all the information I can
