Is there any company you shy away from just because?

For me, if any company that I can think of, it is Callaway. I didn't totally 'ban' them but did for many years. I eventually bought a used 3wood and a used driver. And some balls. But for new clubs, I had never bought one until I recently bought a Callaway hybrid. I have mellowed over the years! This 'opinion' about their company stems from way back when they were super aggressive in their early years. I didn't 'feel good' about their tactics way back when, right or wrong. They certainly did a good job, lol, they sure have a good marketing department! They went from zero to contender to super power in the industry in not a long period of time it seems. (Although, I admit I do not know industry stats.) Time heals all wounds, lol! Is there any company that soured you?

Ping

Idk why, but I almost never try any of their stuff. It started with the eye2 irons...those big, clunky things. Good friend played them and they were hideous back in the day. Then I could never look at their iron hosels. Why can't they figure out the machine that is taking a chunk out of every hosel? Then turbulators. Their fairways and hybrids have been funky looking for a while. Their putters are hit or miss, the hepler series and that black and brown...what max sherzer wanna be in their product development team thought of that?

The 3 I’ve steered clear from are PXG (horrible commercials), PING (name & club design), and Titleist (elitist reputation).

That being said, I recently got fitted for a Scotty Cameron Newport Special Select 2 that is awesome so far!

I’ve recently gained an appreciation for Titleist balls also, so I guess PXG and PING are the only ones on the list for me now.

Kind of that way with TM and Titleist, but had at least tested TM. I wouldn’t hit anything Titleist, gave it a go with the new T200, love them, have a TSI3 arriving tomorrow.

probably best to keep an open mind…..lol

Spirit airlines.. oh wait golf right.

Ping - just think everything looks goofy. That's it..

Titleist (lately) - I was Titleist head to toe all the way through the 915 days. 917 clubs came out and they weren't great then the TS was a full out move to chase Taylormade. Lately they have been coming back around to their own, but the stumble around 2017/2018 really bothered me. I was loyal for over 10 years, now I can't get a Titlest club back I'm the bag even when I try. To each his own.

More of less been Cally for a good number of years.  Cracked a few fairway faces so shy away from those.  Iron's don't really do anything for me, wedges are ok but harder to find the grinds I want in store.

I honestly didn’t look at a Titleist club seriously for 10 years. I’ve just never been a fan of anything they do. But I’m looking for a 230 yd club and I landed on a U510 that I’ve liked so far. Still haven’t looked at anything else from them though. My disdain for them goes back along way though.

I'm pretty fair I think.  If i have animosity,  it is for a specific reason.

TM would be for it's low build quality and deception on shafts (ventus made for as an example).  That is pretty much it.  I do wish companies would make more left-hand stuff (mizuno especially because of the stuff I have tried it was really good), but I get it and don't hate them for it.

This.

All of my buddies hit a lot of their stuff.

I don’t intentionally avoid them, I just don’t have much of their stuff (other than a 16 degree UDI).

Callaway for me as well. Just never got a long with their clubs.  Other than a brief dalliance with an XR16 driver, they've never found their way in my bag.

Nike for me. And,

Ah, Adams is back with TM. Haven’t you seen the new Tight Lies commercials with Brian Moog? Adams is a niche market.

TaylorMade - I can’t get behind a brand that’s going to name one of their lines Rocketballz - It worked for them, those things sold like crazy…but I would never put myself in the position where I might have to say “hey, check out my new Rocketballz”

I don't think I actively avoid anything really anymore, but Callaway drivers are something I never really pay much attention to purely because I don't like their shaping and tend to not like their sound. Dig some of the fairways though.

The one time I had a set of Taylormade irons years ago the faces all caved in almost immediately and I constantly see pictures of their drivers breaking much more so than other OEMs so I generally avoid.

Every once in a while I'll find a TP5 on the ground and enjoy playing it though, but likely will never see myself playing TM clubs ever again

Titleist honestly. I dropped ProVs a while back. Their irons have never really inspired me and I feel like driver and other clubs haven't really kept up in fittings.

I've never owned a Titleist club, and one of the reasons is pretty stupid: I can never remember their naming/numbering schemes, so I just sort of gloss over them when looking at clubs.

    • Sony Open Pics from January 11, 2022 Part 1
I was able to get out to the Sony Open today to take a few pics.  I guess due to Covid precautions they kept the spectators pretty far from the players.  Also due to camera restrictions they've put in place, I wasn't able to bring the big lens like I normally do. Hopefully they'll ease up on the ropes and I'll be able to get more pics tomorrow!
